FrontierVille: How to Get (and Be) a Good Neighbor

Neighbors Help You Advance in This Facebook Game

FrontierVille is one of the hottest games on Facebook. If you're interested in a game where you can complete quests and build your own little home on the frontier, you may enjoy it. There are some frustrating aspects of FrontierVille, however. To complete many of the quests, you have to receive gifts from neighbors. Without neighbors, you have to reach a higher level before you can plant certain crops. If your friends don't play FrontierVille, that can be a problem. Here's how to get neighbors, and how to be a good neighbor in return.

Getting Active Neighbors

If your real-life friends play FrontierVille and are active in the game, that's great. You probably won't have to branch out and make new friends. Perhaps you are more like me though: a lot of my friends play Country Life, but I'm not interested. I have some friends that signed up because I asked them to, but they don't really play. That helped me unlock some crops, but I really can't count on them to send me building supplies. When you're trying to get the school teacher to come into town and have to build an inn and a schoolhouse, you'll need a ton of building supplies. So I had to find more active neighbors.

Fortunately, there's the FrontierVille Community. It is a page on Facebook that you can visit and meet new friends. If you visit the "FrontierVille Community" page (just type that into the Facebook search bar to get to it, and click on "FrontierVille Community + Others", you'll see lots of people that are looking for neighbors. You can either choose to invite some of those people to be your friends (and then send them a FrontierVille neighbor request when they accept) or you can write on the wall and ask for neighbors yourself. When you ask them to be your friend, be sure to add a personal message and write "FrontierVille" in your friend request. Pretty soon, you'll have as many neighbors as you want. I've never had a problem with my new neighbors making annoying comments on my page, but if you end up with someone that puts up a lot of offensive material on your wall, you can always unfriend them later.

Being a Good Neighbor

Once you have some nice FrontierVille neighbors, please be a good neighbor. You don't have to play every single day to be a good neighbor, but when you do play, try to consider what your neighbor needs. Everybody has the ability to create a wish list. Before you send your neighbor a gift, see if you can send anything on their wish list. If they're asking for paint and you can send it, don't send them breakfast or an ink well instead. At times, your neighbors might have things on their list that you can't send (or can't send for free). In that case, send something that you think they might need.

If you're in a hurry to get certain items, you can once again turn to the FrontierVille Community. They have a discussion board where you can post links to things that you need; the sender gets coins in return. To post your own link, you first need to post what you need on your wall. For example, I currently need hammers to finish my inn. When I click on my unfinished inn, it will say "You still need: 4 Hammers." Under the picture of a hammer, there's a button that says "Ask for more". If I click on that button, there will be a post on my wall saying that I need hammers, and if you send a free hammer, you get bonus coins. If you right-click on the link that says "Send Free Hammer", you can choose "Copy Link Location". Paste that link into a current thread on the discussion board where people are asking for supplies. Be sure to be a good neighbor in the FrontierVille Community as well. If you ask for supplies, try to click on at least five links before your request, and five links after your request (the board moves fast). That way everybody else gets what they need too.

By being a good neighbor, and being willing to meet new people and make new friends, you'll find yourself completing FrontierVille quests in no time.
