If you are tired of shopping and need a break while shopping in the new Pompano Centre Mall, Pompano Beach, Fl., try Froots. This is a great place to eat when you are feeling hungry but want to watch your health. This is a really inviting place to stop and eat if you are a vegan. You can get shakes and tropical smoothies for $3.99 to $5.99 and there are eight smoothies that come in at under 230 calories. One particularly good one is Luv n Life with peaches, pineapple sherbert and orange juice.

This Froots franchise idea was the brain child of David Lopez. He felt smoothies were the new upcoming popular drink. They fed into the need for healthier foods. You can add wheat grass to your smoothie for an extra health boost. There is 100% juice in every smoothie. You can get "Fat Blasters" with strawberry, kiwi, fat free vanilla yogurt and fat & protein burner blends. They also offer healthy "shots".

Froots offers healthy fast food with all natural ingredients. You can get smoothies for $4.99), Panninis ($5.00 with a soda included). The "Toucan" smoothie is banana, strawberry and yogurt, it's delish. It's quite large so get the small the first time out. It's very filling.

You can get a "Fat Blaster", "Energy Mania", "Screaming Bull" or "Myoplex "smoothie, with these averaging around 480 calories or the "Screaming Bull, a full 1400 calories. The "Lean Body" and "Myoplex" smoothies are high in potassium.

Other smoothies: They offer 9 smoothies under 230 calories as well as Tropical smoothies like Orange Dream, "Banana Man", "Choco Nuts", "Coco Loco" and the "Matcha Green Tea" smoothie with soy milk. The "Hauss" is a smoothie with with peanut butter, bananas and milk with fat free vanilla yogurt and a protein blend. For energy try the "Red Bull Energy Mania" smoothie. There are several Red Bull smoothies (5) at $5.99 for 24 oz with a full can of Red Bull in every serving.

If you want a simple juice drink there are 7 to choose from, orange, apple, carrot, grapefruit, carrot-apple, carrot-orange or orange -banana.You can get shots called "Power Shots" for $2.99(single shot) to $3.59 (double shot) made of "Matcha Green Tea" or wheat grass 1 oz @ $ 2.19 or 2 oz @ $3.59. One oz of wheat grass equals 2 1/2 lbs of veggies.

Salads run $7.49, There are your typical choices like Greek or Cobb salad but also there is the Santa Fe, Albacore Tuna and Chinese Chicken Salads. The Chinese Chicken is a favorite of mine. It offers chicken, spring mix greens, sesame seeds, oriental noodles and a lovely Teriyaki Sesame Dressing. Keep the dressing on the side and dip your fork in as you eat and save calories. Grillers are $5.99 on wheat or white bread as well as delicious Ciabatta bread and each offers a great variety of greens, cheeses, hummus, meats and dressing with 7 varieties to choose from. As I said, plan on spending some time reading the menu up on the wall, there are so many choices.

Soups are available in a cup or bowl ($2.19/$3.19) with a different soup offered each day.You can also get a cup or bowl of Chili ($2.49/$3.49).

Froots also offers great breakfasts, "Bacon Blitz" , egg, bacon and cheese, Tofu Garden with egg, tofu, tomato, onion and spinach, The "Farmer", "Mexico Jack" and "Greek God" with egg, spinach and of course, feta cheese are all great.

Be prepared to do a lot of menu reading. The menu is up on the wall behind the counter where you can see displays of breads, cheeses and all the necessary ingredients. While you are waiting take a look at the many shelves of health products across from that, Arnica, sleep medicines and other Homeopathy. There are huge jugs of body building protein and more.

The store is clean, well lit and handicap accessible. Parking is easy as this is in a large indoor/outdoor mall. You can take your food to the window seats, the tables and chairs or outside to the patio furniture to eat and people watch or get it to go. The staff is bilingual. They are pleasant and quick.

This is a kid friendly place and a nice place to stop, indulge and be healthy at the same time. They also cater.
