The last thing you want is frostbitten skin, because it hurts. So the simple thing to do, it is, make sure you were dressed appropriately before you venture outside to shovel the sidewalks, take a romantic walk through the falling snow, or play in the snow.
Frost bitten skin will feel numb, or it could appear as it frozen it will be hard and cold to the touch. The color of your skin will change, if it is frost bitten. Skin damage can last from a few hours to many years in the future, and sometimes if it is severe, enough it will need to be removed by surgery.

Dress in layers, two pair of pants are good, wear the lightest weight of material closest to your body, then cover it with the thicker material,, you are allowing your skin to breathe and it would be well ventilated, yet it would be protected from the cold from your outside pants. The same goes for shirts, layers your shirts, the inside sure it should be of a lighter weight material, so that you have plenty of good ventilation. Put in a jacket, add mittens, a hat, a scarf, if you prefer, and good boots.
Always wear a hat, mittens, and good boots out side the frigid winter air, because so much heat leaves our bodies through our extremities. In addition, these areas will become numb first if they are exposed to the air, and most of the time if your skin gets frostbite, you will not be able to feel it getting Frost bit.
It your clothing gets wets because of the weather, or in natural event. You need to get inside as quickly as you can, and take all these wet clothing, because it will keep your body cold and there for lower your blood temperature.
If you are outside for any prolonged time, you need to check your self, and your children for signs of frostbite. If any part of you gets numb, you need to get inside, and out of the cold, and you may prevent yourself from having a nasty case of frostbite.
If you thank that you do have frostbite on any part of your body, you need to seek medical care as quickly as you can. You need from warmed the body of from the inside by drinking some warm drinks, take off your wet cloths, and have someone else in the household draw you some warm water, and you may soak in this for about half an hour until that area has returned to normal.
