Frosted Java: Better Coffee and Better Atmosphere Than Starbucks in Frisco, Texas
Little Coffee Shop Has a Great Start
With Starbucks cornering the market on coffee, however, many shops find that they have to step it up to compete at all. Some of them have brought their best game, too, and have created places and drinks that blow Starbucks out of the proverbial water.
One of these is the new coffee shop across the street from Starbucks at Warren, Frosted Java. This privately owned establishment is making quick strides for their customers, and it shows in their care and quality in their atmosphere and drinks.
Frosted Java entered the coffee scene in Frisco in December 2008, and has seen their clientele grow tremendously since then. They are growing for good reason, too: their warm atmosphere, free wi-fi, and delicious drinks are more than enough to get people to come back again and again.
Upon entering Frosted Java, you are welcomed by baristas who are garrulous and friendly. The music is pleasant, and the colors and art of this traditional coffee shop are warm and inviting. The baristas focus in on making your experience as pleasant as possible. To quote the greatly missed sitcom Cheers, it is nice to go "where everybody knows your name."
The menu at Frosted Java is completely original, and the drinks are fantastic. My first visit, I ordered the small Mexican Spice Latte on the recommendation of a friend who was introducing me to the shop (word of mouth is spreading fast), and was very happy to see a giant coffee mug steaming from under a liberal layer of whipped cream bubbling over onto the dish.
My first sip at Frosted Java was amazing. A perfect blend of cinnamon, chocolate, and espresso was savored as I sat down to begin my work at one of the many couches.
A short while later, the barista brought around samples of gelato: Caramel Cookie Crunch. It too made me instantly want more, and the fact that gelato contains less fat than ice cream (clearly written on the glass case) won me over.
As if they needed to give another reason for me to come back again and again, free wi-fi waited for me to sit and spend hours surfing and working from my computer. The Starbucks across the street has the AT&T paid wireless service available, but no free service. Yet another reason to move your patronage to this privately-owned coffee shop.
Add to all this a drive-thru for those in a hurry, and Frosted Java provides everything you need.
If this review didn't say it clearly enough, let me spell it out for you: try Frosted Java. It is one of the best finds I've had in the metroplex, and stands a cut above its competitors, Starbucks included. And when you're there, look for me; I will be the one in the red-spotted chair working on my computer and drinking a big cup of Mexican Spice Latte.

Post a CommentGreat article! I don't get to Frisco very often, but I'm always looking for an alternative to Starbucks, so I'll have to check it out next time I'm in the area. (Although I may end up regretting the easy access to gelato.)
