Ted Drewes Frozen Custard
Ted Drewes is the gold standard by which all other frozen custard stands are measured. Since 1931, Ted Drewes has been serving their delicious frozen custard on South Grand St. to St. Louisans and tourists alike. They opened a second stand on historic Route 66 (Chippewa St.) in 1941, to better serve people traveling through St. Louis. Ted Drewes has stayed true to their traditions since they opened - they offer ONLY vanilla frozen custard, instead of branching out into more esoteric flavors like other custard stands. Their vanilla custard is anything but bland, though, and their selection of toppings is second to none - try the sour cherry for a unique treat.
St. Louis Frozen Custard Factory
With only one location in Rock Hill (outside of the downtown area), St. Louis Frozen Custard Factory is hardly competition for Ted Drewes. However, if you are out that way, this little frozen custard shop is worth a visit. St. Louis Frozen Custard Factory gets consistently good reviews from customers for their top-notch service and diverse menu, which includes multiple flavors of custard and even a low-fat version for dieters.
Silky's Frozen Custard
For frozen custard in the suburbs of St. Louis, Silky's Frozen Custard can't be beat. There are four Silky's locations spread throughout the greater St. Louis area, so no matter where you are there's sure to be one nearby. Silky's offers several flavors of custard and rotates them daily, so be sure to call ahead to find out when they're offering your favorite. Little things, like real whipped cream and hand-toasted nuts, help Silky's stand out.
Culver's
Yes, Culver's is a fast food chain, but they also serve up seriously creamy, rich frozen custard. In addition to chocolate and vanilla custards (plus any topping you can imagine), Culver's offers a "Flavor of the Day," which is a creative concoction of custard plus fruit, candy, nuts, pies and/or more. Each Culver's location serves a different Flavor of the Day, every day - luckily, there's a handy FOTD calendar on their website so you always know what you're going to get. There are 10 Culver's locations in the St. Louis area (and many more throughout the USA), so getting your frozen custard fix is easy, even if you don't live in the Lou!

Ya' haven't been to St. Louis until ya've been to Drewes' indeed. Now you really make me miss the Midwest. :o) There's nothing like having a steakburger dinner chased down by a good bowl of frozen custard!
I happen to be in St. Louis on business. I like custard - I'll have to check this out!
