Frozen Pancake Review: De Wafelbakkers All Natural Buckwheat Berry Flaxseed Pancakes

These Pancakes Tasted Great Even Though They Were Not Organic

This morning I made my son some frozen pancakes. Mornings can be kind of hectic for us and so I have been attempting to simplify things with frozen pancakes and waffles. I am not crazy about the idea of my son always eating frozen foods for breakfast but I don't mind that we are doing this for a little while. I put two pancakes in the toaster for him, they literally only take a couple minutes to heat up. Since this was the first time that he was trying these pancakes I tore a piece from one of the pancakes for myself. The pancake was a De Wafelbakkers All Natural Buckwheat Berry Flaxseed Pancake and here is what I thought about it.

This was not the only pancake that I have tried from this company, in fact this is not the only frozen breakfast food that I have tried from them. Previously I have tried their Blueberry All Natural Organic Whole Grain Pancakes, A+ Cinnamon All Natural Whole Grain Spelt Sweet Potato Pancakes and their Blueberry All Natural Organic Whole Grain Spelt Waffles. I prefer to get organic foods but I figure it wouldn't hurt to get a few non-organic foods from time to time. The box of De Wafelbakkers All Natural Buckwheat Berry Flaxseed Pancakes contains six pancakes and it only cost a dollar and a quarter. Oddly enough the cost of their organic pancakes are exactly the same price, but I thought that my son might enjoy a change from the blueberry taste. I was right, he enjoyed the new pancake very much.

I thought that the De Wafelbakkers All Natural Buckwheat Berry Flaxseed Pancakes were very good. They were sweet enough that you could easily eat them without having to use syrup. We have not been eating our pancakes and waffles with syrup for a long time but some times we have them with fruit or apple sauce. I was happy to eat these pancakes plain and so was my son. Having flaxseed I knew that these pancakes were going to have a good amount of fiber in them. I looked over the nutrition facts to see what their other nutrition was and I scanned the ingredients to see what it was that made up these pancakes and what made them have the nutrition they did.

A serving size of the De Wafelbakkers All Natural Buckwheat Berry Flaxseed Pancakes is two pancakes. In this pair of pancakes there is one hundred and forty calories with thirty-five calories from fat, as well as two hundred and ten milligrams of sodium, thirty-one grams of carbohydrates, six grams of fiber, eleven grams of sugars and four grams of protein. In addition the minerals and vitamins section of the nutrition facts state that calcium has eight percent and iron has six percent. The ingredients of De Wafelbakkers All Natural Buckwheat Berry Flaxseed Pancakes are whole wheat flour, water, sugar, flaxseed meal, buckwheat flour, soybean oil and/or canola oil, fructan, egg whites, whey, dried mixed berries, salt, leavening made of calcium acid pyrophosphate, monocalcium phosphate and sodium bicarbonate, soy lecithin, natural berry flavor, natural vanilla and xanthan gum. I thought this all looked pretty good.

In all honestly since the organic option of a frozen pancakes is just as cheap I will be getting that more often. However I am glad that we tried the De Wafelbakkers All Natural Buckwheat Berry Flaxseed Pancakes and I am sure that we will get them again. I would recommend for anyone to give them a try, with as cheap as they are even if you don't care for them that much, and I doubt that you would be disappointed with them, you won't be out more than a dollar and a quarter. All in all I would say this is a good frozen breakfast food item.
