Glass Plugs, Beads, and Baubles on Etsy for any Budget: Frozenfire is the new King of Glass

We all know someone with stretched ears. Whether they are big enough to put a ping pong ball through, or a pencil. Stretched ears are no longer such a rarity that they cause heads to turn and employees to shred applications.

In fact, They are common enough that large names like Gorilla Glass, Omerica Organic, and Steel Navel have made quite a name for themselves selling jewelry online and retail for these not so common piercings. As there are many sizes you can go in the gauge or size hole you want in your ear from 8 mm (the size of a pencil lead) to ¾ inch (about the width of a woman's thumb)

There are also hundreds of materials in which to make ornaments to adorn these holes in your lobes. There is Metals such as Niobium, Titanium,Copper, gold, silver and Surgical Implant Steel. There are Silicone sleeves and plugs.

There are beautiful wood plugs Sono, Coconut, Ebony and more. However, probably the most well known and most widely used plug material both for its ease in ability to be sterilzed, and great options in availabilities in color, is Boriscillate glass.

So far in the Glass plug scene there has been only one name that people think about when they think about glass previous to Etsy and that was Gorilla Glass. However after the emergency of Etsy and the increase of people demanding quality glasswear plugs at a reasonable price, Frozenfire was born.

Bill and Meg are the proprieters of Frozenfire and together with their workforce of three cats they manage to churn out custom glasswear that has been getting rave reviews on body piercing forums all over the net since their grand opening in 2002.

Creating glass plugs sizes 8g (3mm) to 1 in. (26mm) Frozenfire on Etsy has quickly become one of the most affordable in high quality borriscilate glasswear on the web.Selling predominantly to individuals, with a smattering of retail from the website,

Bill says most of his sales are 8,6, and 4 gauge dicro glass wear which is more exspensive and difficult to find in stock on other body modification sites. However, since Frozenfire does custom work without the custom pricing, getting your own personalized pair of dicro glasswear, which makes stretching your lobes exactly how stretching should be, painless.

Frozenfire also offers a repair service for flaws and defects. Or in my case for persons with short stubby lobes such as mine should take advantage of. Having gotten a pair of beautiful glass plugs that were entirely too long for my ears I was in despair over never getting to wear them.

Then I spoke to Bill of Frozenfire who said "Send them to me." He can easily shorten the wearing legnth of a plug to make it a more comfotable fit. He is able to repair chips, fix too large flares, and in my case shorten the wearable area of a plug.

Considering how beautiful some glass is, you can't underestimate how many plugs are saved each year by Frozenfire's tender ministrations.Frozenfire has also been pushing the envelope artistically with innovative glasswear featuring glasswear styles like: Seafloor, Bubbles, Glass Hearts, Razzberries, Starburts, Mushroom caps, Pinwheels, Coils, Fruit, and of course my personal favorite Carnival stlye.

He also features the ever popular Spiral glass, plain color fronts, and the newest in the line up shimmery Dicro. All of these custom creations are not only pieces of artwork, but they are perfect for the person who wants glasswear that they can wear to work or to play.

This glasswear is so well made that most of the time unless someone knows to look for stretched ears they think you have on rather large earrings. This intrepid reporter has an interesting travel tale about Frozenfire Plugs. Knowing I had to pack light because I would be on and off the strip and traveling by foot and bus I brought one pair of white double flared Frozenfire plugs.

I made sure to wash them in soap and water everyday. Even though I was outside standing in the heat waiting for the bus and draggin myself around chasing after stories and intrviewing people each time I felt my plugs they felt oddly cool. Never onc did they get smelly, fall out, or look unprofessional.

They traveled like a dream! In fact I have gotten more greif going through TSA with my silicone tunnels than my glasswear.Despite being a sweaty, hot, dripping mess in Nevada, my plugs never once got stinky, gross, slippery, or hot.Another head nod to Frozenfire glasswear, there plugs clean easy and will travel.

Finally Frozenfire as a company pays it forward. Frozenfire shared with me pictures of their three rescue cats. All three live inside and help to keep Frozenfire churning out glasswear by keeping out vermin and charming guests who stop by. Also when Bill and Meg heard that Kind Outraeach of Syracuse was trying to get some gift boxes rustled up for a local teen center they offered to donate some plugs knowing that Teens often had piercings that they kept open with unsafe, or unsterilized materials.

Since glass is easily cleaned in boiling water they thought it might help.It was a gift that no one else had thought to offer and though the boxes never happened because the center closed. It is good to know that even in hard economic times for small businesses, some are still willing to give.Although with the talent and feedback that keeps coming from all over the piercing world pertaining to Frozenfire glasswear, I don't see this business being a small business for much longer.

So be on the look out on Etsy for Frozenfire the King of glasswear. I can't wait to see what crazy things he has come up with now.
