If anyone understands a need to be frugal, it's dear old mom. If you're thinking about something special to get your mom, here are some great tips to give your mom a wonderful, but frugal Mother's Day gift!
Give mom an afternoon with you, and you alone. Mom would love to spend some quality time with her child, and you can do anything! It doesn't have to be an expensive luncheon, pack a picnic basket and head to the park. You can spend hours just talking. Going window shopping or even looking at old pictures will bring a smile, and it doesn't cost a thing.
You can cook mom's favorite meal and invite her over for supper. Any mother I know thinks it's fabulous to not have to cook or clean up for an evening. Give her a special night out and serve her favorite foods, right down to dessert.
Plan a day to spend at her house and help clean, or work. Cleaning duties, especially when there are other things that need accomplishing can overwhelm mothers. Spend a day working in her garden, raking leaves or cleaning out the old storage area. Mom will appreciate it!
Gift baskets are always a favorite. The sky is the limit on what you could fill it up with, with mom in mind. Anything from her favorite tea to bath and beauty supplies. Make it a treat with things she normally wouldn't purchase for herself.
Bring mom freshly cut flowers from your garden. You can purchase a vase at the Dollar Store, or even use one that's been hanging around the cabinet for a while. Tie a nice ribbon around it, and even a homemade card would be a great addition.
A mom understands a person's need to be frugal, if anyone does. In fact, most mothers I know would be upset knowing you spent a lot of money on a gift! A gift for mom doesn't have to cost a lot, it comes straight from your heart and it's appreciated that much more.
Quality time with their children is always something that mothers of grown children love to have. After years of having you hanging around and pulling on the pant legs, are you sure your mother was ready to let you go?
Brighten up mom's day this year, and give her a great gift!
