Picnics in a local park, very low cost as you can pack a picnic lunch for under 10.00. Transportation cost can be minimal if you find a local park within your own county.
Game night, so much fun and so little cost all you have to invest in is a bag of popcorn and some coke or kool-aid. This can include cards, board games, or a made up game that includes the whole family.
Camping, you can go to a local campsite or set up a tent in your own yard and forget about the tv,computer, video games, ect and have a cook out. This can be really inexpensive. If you don't have a tent you can even make one.
Caving, who wouldn't enjoy a walk through a cool cave on a hot day. There are all kinds of caves you can explore and be sure to take extra flash lights, and a light picnic lunch. Never go in a cave alone and always let someone know where you are planning on caving that day. This can be a real adventure for the whole family.
Swimming, this can range from a little 1 foot pool you can buy to a big 4 foot pool depending on your budget. If you buy a pool you can enjoy this activity over and over all summer long.
Treasure Hunting, have someone in the family hide some treasures that the other family members must find, kinda like a scavenger hunt. Have a prize for the one who finds the most.
Rock Hunting, take a hike down to the closest creek and you will be amazed at some of the neatest fossils you will find. This can be quite interesting trying to identify the fossils.
These outings may seem like simply things that don't cost alot but that is the point! Some of the funnest things in life are free. Family time together gives everyone an opportunity to be involved and share quality time that will leave pleasant childhood memories for a lifetime.
