1. Join a warehouse club like Costco or Sam's Club. Costco and Sam's Club offer great prices in their stores, and online, on things like copier paper, pens, small business machines, etc... By joining a warehouse club you can buy things in bulk and save money over time. (This is also a great place to purchase other things for your business like paper towels, toilet paper, coffee, etc...)
2. Keep a tight watch on your supplies and stock up before you need things, when you can get them for a great price. Often the big suppliers will offer free shipping if you make a purchase of $50-$100 at a time. Shop around for the best deals and then take advantage of special offers and order everything you will need for a while.
3. Control usage of items. While you should keep extra supplies on hand, it is important to watch your usage. Make use of all supplies and make sure not to waste items. Use things up as much as possible before moving for a new item.
4. Print and copy only when necessary. Try and use the least amount of paper that the job requires. Edit your documents online as much as possible and then only print what is absolutely necessary. Make only as many copies of documents as you need. If you need additional documents you can always print or copy more at a later time. Also, it is generally cheaper to copy rather than print. If you need multiple copies of a document print one and then copy it on the copy machine.
5. Refill your ink and toner cartridges or have them refilled. It is always cheaper to refill than to buy a new cartridge, even if you have them professionally refilled. It is also better for the environment.
6. Get on as many office supply store mailing lists as possible. To get your business they will send you coupons to use and offers for free items. Take advantage of their competition and get the best prices using their offers.
7. Use rechargeable batteries in anything that requires a battery. This will save your business a lot of money and is also environmentally friendly.
8. Unplug everything when not in use. Rather than leave your PC, Copier, etc... on when you leave, make sure you turn off everything and unplug it - or use surge protectors and turn them off.
9. Look around at garage sales and thrift stores to find the odd item for your business. Some great items can be found for great prices. While you won't likely find something you are looking for specifically, you will find the occasional great bargain.
