Avocados
Avocados are not only full of healthy fat for the diet, but they also contain vitamins E, D, A, and the mineral potassium. Vitamin E acts as an antioxidant to fight against free radicals and reduces the signs of aging such as wrinkles or fine lines. Potassium helps to reduce the appearance of age spots on the face, leading to a more youthful appearance. According to Naturally Avocado, the fruit also contains anti-aging and anti-wrinkle properties to increase collagen growth, reducing the appearance of lines on the face. Fresh avocado applied to the face is beneficial as well, adding moisture to skin dehydrated by sun or wind. For those who suffer from skin ailments like eczema, acne or psoriasis, the natural oils found in avocado help to reduce bacteria growth on the skin which lead to outbreaks and the creamy fruit helps with reducing inflammation and irritation.
Berries
WebMD explains that berries such as strawberries, blackberries and blueberries are all high in antioxidants and help fight against damaging free radicals. Free radicals are trapped within the skin and body after being exposed to pollution, high fat foods or too much sun exposure. Berries with antioxidants cancel out the negative effects free radicals have on the skin including cell damage, wrinkles and sun spots. WebMD indicates that the antioxidants in berries feature phytochemicals that protect skin cells, allowing them to stay youthful and healthy. Smart Skin Care suggests eating fruit raw and fresh as often as possible to be sure and retain as many antioxidants in the fruit as possible.
Papaya
Papaya is a healthy fruit to improve skin care because it contains natural exfoliating properties to remove dead skin cells and improve skin cell growth. Fresh papaya juice applied to the face not only removes dead skin cells for a smoother appearance, but it also reduces discoloration on the face caused by age or sun spots. Papayas are beneficial fruits for skin care due to the enzyme, papain which helps to smooth and soften skin.
