Apples - Apples have a reputation for aiding in digestion. They contain a substance called pectin which is used to lower cholesterol and to control blood sugar levels in diabetics. Aside from pectin, apples also contain Potassium, Phosphorous, Iron, Calcium, Magnesium, Niacin, and Vitamins A, E and C. We've also found that apples contain substances that act as antioxidants which prove useful in preventing heart disease. So the age-old adage "an apple a day keeps the doctor away" has really proven to be true.
Asparagus - Asparagus is mainly used to treat kidney problems. It also works to purify and stimulate the metabolism and to cleanse the blood. This vegetable is low in calories but is rich in vitamins and minerals. It contains Sodium, Potassium, Calcium, Phosphorous, Iron, Zinc and Vitamins A and C. Green asparagus contains more vitamins and magnesium then white asparagus.
Cabbage - Cabbage is useful in the treatment of mineral deficiencies. Cabbage contains protein, fat, carbohydrates, Sodium, Potassium, Magnesium, Calcium, Iron, Vitamin C and Sulfur. It is thought that by eating some members of the cabbage family, raw, that it will help to prevent cancer. The vitamins act as antioxidants that neutralize damage-causing free radicals that may be linked to cancer.
Cucumber - Cucumbers consist of 95% water and have almost no calories or cholesterol. They help to cleanse toxins and waste material from the body. Cucumbers contain Potassium and Magnesium as well as Sodium, Iron, and Calcium. They also contain many essential vitamins, Copper, Iodine, Zinc, and Selenium.
Lemons - Lemons are very rich in Vitamin C, which strengthens the immune system. It also acts as an antioxidant that protects cells in the body. The juice from one lemon provides you with 33% of your daily need of Vitamin C.
Pineapple - Pineapple contains an enzyme called bromelain, which can break down the protein in foods. Pineapples contain Vitamin C, Folic Acid, Potassium, and dietary fiber. This fruit can be used for stomach disorders, diarrhea, fever and muscle cramps.
Potatoes - Potatoes neutralize stomach acids and relieve upset stomach and heartburn. They are very nutritious, supplying fiber, protein, Vitamins A, B, and C, Copper, Iron, Magnesium, Manganese, Niacin and Potassium.
Radish - Radishes help to promote digestion. They are also a very good source of Vitamin C, Potassium and Calcium.
Take your pick of these delicious fruits and vegetables to give your health a little boost. Of course, as with any treatment, you should consult your physician before beginning.
