Fruity Jumpy Bunny Skewers - Healthier Easter Sunday for Everyone

Throw Away the Candy

Easter is quickly approaching and the children are getting antsy. Those who still believe in the Easter Bunny, shame on those of you who have spoiled it, want to color their Easter eggs and eat a ton of candy. Coloring Easter eggs can be a fun and actually healthy activity because Easter eggs are not that bad for you health wise. However, eating all of that chocolate is not very ideal and there are alternatives for your children. Today I am going to teach you how to make one of those alternatives. Let me introduce to you something I call Fruity Jumpy Bunny Skewers.

Making these fun colored skewers is so easy that you could make them with your children if you want. What I do is make them and place them in their Easter baskets about two hours before they wake up. This way the fruit does not go bad and they end up with something healthy in their basket.

In order to make Fruity Jumpy Bunny Skewers you will need a nice variety of fruit. Run off to your grocery store and purchase yourself a box of large strawberries, a cantaloupe, two bananas, one or two apples, and about 20 skewers. What you will need to do next is pick out five of the largest and juicest strawberries and cut them into halves. You will then cut out ΒΌ of the cantaloupe. Once you have done this, you will then cut this portion of the cantaloupe into balls or cubes (you decide!).

Next, grab the 2 bananas that your purchased. Your going to take the bananas and peel each one. Once they are peeled you are going to do the same thing that you did with the cantaloupes. You will need to either cut them into chunks or into balls to fit properly on the skewer. Your apple will be handled in the same way, as you will need to cut it into chunks or balls as well.

Once you have all of your ingredients properly prepped, you are all set to roll. You will place the pieces on the skewers in whatever manner your heart desires. I like placing the fruit in a rainbow like pattern to help bring out the cool color patterns. Believe it or not you will now be done. You can either present the skewers on a plate in a decorative manner or take the same route as me and place them directly into your child's Easter basket.

I must be honest and admit that my children were not that excited over the fruit in their basket at first. This is because they had become accustomed to gorging themselves on a chocolate paradise on Easter money. However, I slowly won them over by introducing this healthier alternative into their lives. They now look forward to the fruit skewers because they are fun and make a great breakfast. Hopefully you have the same fun results as me this upcoming Easter Sunday.
