Don't let the name fool you. The Frye Veronica Slouch Boot is definitely not for slouchers. This is a proven staple in the Frye collection due in part to the range of 12 color selections plus the style and craftsmanship you expect from Frye.
You'll find a genuine leather upper, lightly padded footbed and durable rubber sole with a 1 1/4 inch heel. Now add two buckles: one at the ankle and one at the top of the 13 1/2 inch shaft which allow for a custom fit. Your only problem will be choosing a color from the stone washed, burnished and vintage shadings available (even a cranberry) or the more stately black, taupes and browns. Some of these colors are so unique, you need to see to believe them. This boot retails for $328.
To my eye, this Frye Veronica Slouch is a statement boot and begs for commitment, but you may want to compare some similar offerings before making your final decision:
La Canadienne Passion: A classy riding boot style with a 15 inch high shaft comes in a soft and supple, waterproof, Italian calf leather in brown or black. A zipper on the inside of the shaft plus stretch goring offer a great fit while a microfiber lining means this boot breathes and wicks moisture away to keep feet warm and dry. With memory foam insole, a block 1 1/2 inch heel, flexible and durable TPR rubber outsole and sizing in medium or wide widths, this boot offers comfort as well as high style and retails for $320.
Harley-Davidson Alexa: True to its name this boot is ready to ride. In black, full-grain leather upper, fully adjustable leather lacing up the back of the 12 1/2 inch shaft plus buckles at the ankle and top of shaft allow for a cozy fit. There is also a full inside zipper so you can be ready to go quickly. Full-length cushioned sock lining, lightweight rubber mini lug outsole and Goodyear® welt construction complete this sturdy but cute riding boot retailing at $154.
Gabriella Rocha Cacioppo: What a fun boot to let the world know you have that ultra-chic style wherever you go. Soft, soft, soft synthetic leather allows for slight scrunching of the 16 1/2 inch shaft above the circle harness detail at each ankle. A full side zip closure (with more detail in a dainty zipper charm) plus hidden goring at the top of the shaft provide comfort in the fit. A man-made sole and lining (in a fun print) and 1 1/4 inch wedge heel complete this high fashion look. Retail is about $75.
All of these qualify as full calf-high boots, but each one has its distinct personality. You will have to choose which one fits your "modus operandi". All of these styles including the Frye Veronica Slouch Boot are available online at better prices than you will find at local stores.
