FUD is a marketing term coined by Gene Amdahl in 1970, and from what I understand is still used today. It stands for Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt. In marketing terms it is used to persuade you to buy something you think you must have.
I am wondering how many times I have been persuaded by fear, uncertainty or doubt?
I am guessing too many times to count.
One of my friends who is facing chemo had doubts and probably a little fear about whether or not chemo was the correct route to take. While she was sitting on a bench at a cancer center, she just "happened" to sit beside a patient who also had a double mastectomy. However, her surgery was a year ago, and she did not take the doctors advice about continuing with chemotherapy. Today that lady learned the cancer had spread to her bones and now she is having chemo. It took lots of planning on the Lord's part to put those two people on a bench for the two minute wait for their cars.
I've always know God is everywhere. But that reality came to life this week, as my husband and I stood at the launch pad waiting for our friend to be air-lifted to a different hospital. That morning, his wife called to tell me her husband had 11 staples in his head and the E.R. doctors said his neck was broken. We drove two and a half hours to the hospital, praying most of the way.
I realized God is sometimes like a bus driver. You are standing there at the bus stop, maybe not really knowing where you want to go. HE pulls up, opens the door and it's up to you to climb on the bus, and go with HIM. Or wave the bus on.
He was there at the same time for my two friends this week. In different areas, God was still there with both of them. HE was also with their families giving them comfort, joy and peace.
Psalm 27:1 The Lord is my light and my salvation, so why should I be afraid? The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble?
