Fugly was the Cat's Name

Johnny Yuma
I was talking to Donna a friend that I go to college with, and she was telling me about a cat that has been abandoned by her neighbors; the cat has taken up at her house. Donna showed me where the cat bit her. I asked her, "What are you calling the cat-Fangs"? Donna said, "That's what my husband asked me, and I told him I have been calling him Fugly." Donna said, that her husband said, 'You call him what.' Donna repeated Fugly, then her husband said "You can't call him Fugly, what does that mean anyway?" Donna said, "That means he is uglier than ugly." Then, she said undoubtedly that is the ugliest cat I have ever seen in my life. Donna said, "It has gray splotches with orange and white splotches mixed in and black spots on it as well.

Donna said, "Somebody needs to teach that cat not to bite the hand that feeds it." I gather that the cat has not had a very good home-life before it took up with Donna and her family. Judging from what else she told me, I am quite sure that Donna and her family will give the cat a better life than it had beore if it will learn to behave itself and quit its biting.

Fuglies Ex-owners

When Donna was first telling me about Fugly the cat, she told me that the police had been at her house asking questions. They were asking if she or her husband heard her neighbors fighting or noticed anything-unusual going on. The police were also asking if anything happened that would have caused a lot of blood to be around the house; had they killed an animal or anything like that? Donna said, "No they haven't killed any animal that I know of, but they did have a dog's ears notched for identification I think. The police told Donna that it was more blood than that. As it turned out, Donna told me, The blood was on the bed and had soaked all the way through the mattress, and that it left a big puddle on the floor. Donna told me several days ago that the police have found the body at Skunk Hollow or Saltillo, or somewhere out in that area; both places are east of town but still near Conway, Arkansas. Donna also said, "The police have a manhunt going on, because they are looking for the husband." I thought, because Donna didn't tell me different that the man had killed his wife. A few days later she told me they found them in Montana or New Mexico, but I can't remember which one. I said that I thought, you said the man killed his wife and the other guy. Donna said, "No the husband only killed the man that was visiting them when the two men got into an argument." The woman's family thought the man might have killed her, because they hadn't heard from her in several days. However, when the police caught him his wife was with him. It sure looks to me like Fuglies ex-owners are murderers.

Update to this story: Summer of 2001 I heard on the news a few days ago about a man and a woman being on trial for murder; they had supposedly murdered a man in Conway, Arkansas, and they eventually were found guilty of murder. Those two people were Donna's ex-neighbors and they were Fuglie's ex-owners.

Yes Janet, it is and also a true one. I guess that the man just let his temper get the best of him. It is good that he got caught up within six months or so. I hope it was before it happened to anyone else. Thanks so much for commenting. I am on my way to your pages right now. Are you a night owl also?

Shaheen it is an interesting name but not one I would have come up with on my own. It really is Donna's, and she named it that because of how ubly it was. I suspect that once it gained some weight it wouldn't have been nearly so ugly and who knows she may have changed it's name. The story, however, is true. Johnny

I know with such a strange name as Fugly that you all are having a hard time believing this story, but it is a true one Greenhill. Not a single thing in it is made up--not a name of the cat or a character or place or anything. Even Skunk Hollow is the name of a community just about thr33 miles east of downtown Conway, as is Saltillo and SquriellHill, but they are on different roads. Johnny
