Fujitsu Introduces Smallest Convertible Notebook

Fujitsu Computer Systems Corporation, a manufacturer of notebook computers, announced on Tuesday, their newest line of Lifebook convertible notebooks. The Lifebook U810 mini and the Lifebook T2010 both have lightweight and portable designs with features you can find on most convertible notebooks out in the market.

The Lifebook U810 is the world's smallest tablet convertible, according to Fujitsu based on the company's research as of May 16, 2007. The Lifebook U810 just weighs in at 1.56 pounds and has a 5.6 inch WSVGA crystal view LED display. The Lifebook U810 is a convertible notebook since the 5.6 inch screen can rotate, turning the notebook into a handheld tablet PC with a touch screen for both finger or pen input. The Lifebook U810's specification include: an 800 MHz Intel A110 processor, Intel GMA graphics card, 40 GB of hard disk space, 1000 MB of RAM, SD and Compact Flash card slot, Bluetooth 2.0, USB 2.0, 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi card, and built-in camera. Users can choose which operating system to put on the Lifebook U810. Customer choice can range from Windows Vista Home Premium, Windows Vista Business, or Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005. According to Fujitsu, the Lifebook U810 can deliver up to 5.5 hours of computing time.

The Fujitsu Lifebook T2010 on the other hand, is an ultra-portable laptop instead of an ultra-mobile PC. The T2010 weighs 3.5 pounds had has a 12.1-inch WXGA indoor and outdoor display. Like the Lifebook U810, the Lifebook T2010 is also a convertible notebook. The 12.1 inch screen has a bi-directional swivel to turn it into a tablet PC. The Lifebook T2010 has a 1.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor with ultra low voltage, a DDR2 533 MHz SD RAM, SATA 150 hard disk drive, Intel Wireless WiFi link, Bluetooth 2.0, a built-in fingerprint sensor and dedicated Smart Card slot. Fujitsu boasts that the Fujitsu Lifebook T2010 has a battery life of up to 11 hours if the extended battery option is used or 9 hours for a standard battery. The Lifebook T2010 also has a spill-resistant keyboard and users can also choose from the same operating systems offered for the Lifebook U810.

The Lifebook U810 will be available in September with a starting price of $999. The Lifebook T2010 is already available at the Fujitsu online store and customers can choose from seven configuration options ranging from $1,599-$2,309, with customers either choosing to upgrade the memory or having an increased hard disk drive, or they can also choose their own configuration.
