Question 1: Do full body scans cause an invasion of privacy. The answer is yes they do allow individuals to be seen with out clothing including children. They are also not as yet gender friendly so both sexes could be monitored by someone of the opposite sex. The alternative a pat down is no better for a child. I am sure they will have pedophiles knocking down the doors for this job.
Question 2: Are full body scans safe? They do emit low levels of radiation and may not be safe for pregnant women or children. There is no such thing as safe radiation doses. Low level doses administered over long periods to frequent fliers could be dangerous as well.
Question 3: Can full body scans really stop attacks or simply be used against us. Under normal circumstances and in another country I would say they could be a useful tool in stopping terror attacks.
Here in the United States we do not discriminate against hiring practices based on religion or currently background. We have Muslims in the police departments, military, postal workers, and most other government agencies. Even airport security one will find people of the Muslim faith working.
This means that if someone has a Major Hassan moment they may allow potential terrorists to walk right past the full body scan machine they may be operating. After all Major Hassan was an inside terrorist. If you have one it would stand to reason there are more.
Let us keep our borders secure and our children safe by keeping a watchful eye out. When being scanned in the airport see who is scanning you remember the way the government figures we are all potential terrorist. We all need to do our part and monitor the monitors. After all it was not the government that stopped the Christmas Day Bomber.
