While Whitney and Roxy are settling in for the night in Florida, back in New York the Elle staffers are attending a launch party for Zac Posen's Target line. The event is very exclusive and an "only in New York" opportunity -- an opportunity that is crucial for Olivia to capitalize on in the form of an exclusive Elle.com interview with Zac Posen. Recent mistakes make a good interview a must for Olivia to continue her journey at Elle, and Erin expresses doubt that Olivia will end the night triumphant. Olivia manages to pull off the interview before the night is over though, and the Elle editors return to being moderately pleased with her performance.
Back in Miami, models are performing for the GenArt designers, and Whitney has to confront a rival fashion designer named Romina for trying to horn in on a model previously selected by Whitney for her last walk of the show. After the stress of the model selection process alleviates, Whitney and Roxy journey to the Koko boutique where they end up having a light discussion with the owner and store buyer about carrying the Whitney Eve fashion collection. After it is established that the store representatives will be at the GenArt fashion show and cocktail party, Roxy and Whitney leave Koko invigorated at the possibility of securing a buyer for Whitney's line.
The next day at Elle, the editor and Erin review Olivia's interview with Zac Posen, as well as a key interview featuring Olivia's main rival for her Elle.com correspondent position, Louise Roe. Erin attempts to secure the downfall of Olivia, but it is ultimately decided that two correspondents are better than one and Olivia remains at Elle another day. Erin also fails dismally later in the episode at complementing Louise - Olivia interrupts her litany of praise and manages to steer Louise away to the accessories department while also securing a lunch invitation. Ouch for Erin, but this moment could lead to great kindling wood for future episodes and conflicts and catty fights within the Elle offices.
In Miami Whitney and Roxy end up dealing with contentious women while preparing for the Whitney Eve segment of Fresh Faces in Fashion. Despite the grief, the show goes very well for Whitney, and she manages to secure a deal with the Koko boutique despite competition from rival Romina.
Future episodes of "The City" are sure to feature some great frenemy moments within the Erin, Olivia and Louise triangle. Whitney's star on the rise will surely play a huge part within the program, as well, but will her star stay there? The City airs on Tuesdays at 10:30/9:30 CST.
