Kenyan-borner runner Robert Cheruiyot is the winner, as many predicted prior to the race.
After beginning the marathon at an historic pace for the Boston Marathon, Cheruiyot's pace would slow. The Associated Press reports his final time as 2:07:46, only 32 seconds behind the record pace that Cheruiyot set two years prior.
Robert Cheruiyot is far from the only Kenyan to take part in the race; six of the top 15 male finalists in Monday's Boston Marathon claim Kenya as their home.
World-reknowned cyclist Lance Armstrong also took part in the marathon, breaking the three hour marker in the process. Armstrong ran a time of 2:50:58, placing 488 in a field of more than 20,000 runners. Monday's Boston Marathon was the third marathon in which he has taken part.
