Full-Lace and Lace-Front Wig Adhesives

When purchasing full-lace or lace-front wigs, you will need to have some type of adhesive to use when applying your wig onto your head for that realistic look. If this is your first time and you do not know which adhesive may work best for you, here are a few suggestions of lace-front and full-lace wig adhesive that may interest you. Most vendors do not give you adhesive; some may give you a sample supply of tape, but in most cases you will have to purchase that separately. There are two types of method you can use to get a good hold on your hair, glue or tape. The tapes are usually double-sided and come in various shapes depending on what brand you buy. Some may come in strips, and others come on a roll where you have to cut your desired length. When using the tapes, you use pieces and place them around the perimeters of your hairline, where you want to place your lace wig. Once you have the tapes placed, you can peel of the backing and apply your wig small sections at a time until you have your wig fully placed.

There are pros and cons of using the tape method. Many people complain about many brands of tape because after a very short time, in most cases, the tape can look dull through the edges of your wig and thus giving it less of a natural look. Another con is that the tape may look too shiny through the grids of the lace, but there are tricks to help such as dabbing the perimeters of your hairline with makeup to make it less noticeable. Many wig wearers use tape as an adhesive for the back of the hair and glue in the front when wearing a full lace wig, you would have to find the perfect one after trying a few before you can do this if you decide to. A couple of the most popular tapes on the market you may want to consider is Supertape which has a good hold on your wig for a max of 14 days without lifting and is easy to clean, this is a popular tape of choice amongst full lace and lace front wig wearers. Blue liner tape has a good hold for a week or two and Proflex tape which also has a good hold. You can find many different tapes depending on where you look and what the vendors chooses to sell.

Unlike the tapes used for your lace wigs, the glue method can be toxic so use at your own risk. Many of the glue adhesives require that you apply small amounts at a time and let it dry a little before you apply your unit onto it. Some glues have great hold times, anywhere from one week to a month, so be sure to research the one you decide to go with, Here is a few of the most popular ones. Oil Resistant White Glue, also known as ORWG has a good and strong bond that lasts along time. The Davlyn brand has a good hold for a few days which can be anywhere from four to eight days. Ultra Hold is a good one that you can find almost anywhere from eBay to Amazon. Many of the hold time, which means how long the glue will allow to stick to your head, are different and may vary for many depending on how naturally oily or dry your skin maybe. You should also consider tying your head with a scarf around the perimeters when showering, sleeping or working out to prevent the edges of your hair from lifting or slipping back if you want a longer hold time.

Many of these adhesives can be found online from vendors who sells full lace and lace front wigs as well as eBay. Shop around and read the descriptions and see which ones might work best for you because what may work for others may not be the best choice for you.
