If you love to knit and need some 'new to you' patterns this Christmas season, then you should enjoy the delightful designs and patterns I have found for you online.
This first project looks difficult, but it is for all skill levels. It is a beautiful Christmas star! It looks very warm and inviting on a cold December night. You use three contrasting colors to make the star pattern stand out. The directions call for red, white and green, but you can use any you like to make it come alive. See the pattern here.
This next pattern is an adorable children's poncho. The colors are nice, but if you change them to your traditional Christmas colors, then voila! You have a Holiday poncho. My Mom made me one of these when I was young, and I loved it. I think it was yellow... Click here for the children's poncho pattern.
Now that the older kids have a beautiful Christmas poncho, we need one for baby, too! Click here to see the adorable baby pattern that can be used for ages 6-24 months! I think I need to try this one for my little girl. This poncho would look adorable in red and white, like a candy cane. Make sure the yarn you choose is color safe or you might end up with a red and pink poncho!
If you have a friend that is into yoga, then this next pattern will make them very happy. It is an adorable green and white striped yoga mat bag. I read the pattern and it seems pretty easy, so I might just try it for my sister! Shhh... don't tell her! Click here to view it. I think it might look good in silver and gold as well. Hmm... so many color ideas.
What is knitting without a sock monkey? Here is a cute pattern for our famous friend and you can change him into a Christmas sock monkey by monkeying around with the colors. Try him out in some nice reds and greens, or even in a Santa suit! This particular sock monkey comes with a hat and scarf, too, so he is ready to deliver presents with Santa. Enjoy this pattern here.
This next idea is a simple pattern for a beautiful cotton dishcloth. It is great for beginners, and can be made into gifts or just to decorate your own kitchen. This particular pattern is best with already striped yarn to make it easier. Click here to view it. My kitchen could use some sprucing up this Christmas season, so I think I will make some matching red and green ones. Try it!
Have a friend who is into snowboarding? Do they need a new hat, or maybe a friend who just likes the style? Knit this one and be sure to get loads of smiles Christmas morning. Click here to see this cool looking hat!
For all us writers out there, here is a cute pattern for Knit Wristers, also known as fingerless gloves. These are nice for those cold nights when we are burning the midnight oil doing National Novel Writing Month in November or our articles for Associated Content. Take out your favorite Christmas colors and make some beautiful wristers for you and your novel writing friends. I could see this pattern with old Victorian Christmas colors. What colors do you envision it with? Check it out here. (This is a .pdf document, so you will need Adobe Reader to see it. Download it here.)
This next pattern is for the intermediate knitter. It is a Christmas tree skirt. It is in beautiful red and black, with presents knitted into it. Sadly, I am not advanced enough to try this one, but I am sure there are plenty of you out there that can make this lovely pattern come to life! Click here to see it. (This one is also a .pdf file.)
If you like making Tea Cozies, then take a look at this next one. It is a Santa! He is too cute and has a removable hat, too. Click here to see it! It is so adorable. Imagine it out for all your Christmas guests!
Happy Knitting!

Post a CommentI began knitting last year working on a baby blanket for my daughter, great links
Thanks for some good resources. I'm with you; there's nothing better than creating a blanket that progressively covers you as you work on it :)
