Fun Christmas Knitting Projects for All Ages

I love to knit during the winter months. It is very comforting and soothing, and also very warm! As the blanket you are knitting grows, so does the warmth on your lap as it slowly covers you. The trick is staying awake long enough to finish the pretty blanket. I learned to knit from my Mother, and she learned it from hers. Hopefully my son and daughter will learn it from me and continue the legacy!

If you love to knit and need some 'new to you' patterns this Christmas season, then you should enjoy the delightful designs and patterns I have found for you online.

This first project looks difficult, but it is for all skill levels. It is a beautiful Christmas star! It looks very warm and inviting on a cold December night. You use three contrasting colors to make the star pattern stand out. The directions call for red, white and green, but you can use any you like to make it come alive. See the pattern here.

This next pattern is an adorable children's poncho. The colors are nice, but if you change them to your traditional Christmas colors, then voila! You have a Holiday poncho. My Mom made me one of these when I was young, and I loved it. I think it was yellow... Click here for the children's poncho pattern.

Now that the older kids have a beautiful Christmas poncho, we need one for baby, too! Click here to see the adorable baby pattern that can be used for ages 6-24 months! I think I need to try this one for my little girl. This poncho would look adorable in red and white, like a candy cane. Make sure the yarn you choose is color safe or you might end up with a red and pink poncho!

If you have a friend that is into yoga, then this next pattern will make them very happy. It is an adorable green and white striped yoga mat bag. I read the pattern and it seems pretty easy, so I might just try it for my sister! Shhh... don't tell her! Click here to view it. I think it might look good in silver and gold as well. Hmm... so many color ideas.

What is knitting without a sock monkey? Here is a cute pattern for our famous friend and you can change him into a Christmas sock monkey by monkeying around with the colors. Try him out in some nice reds and greens, or even in a Santa suit! This particular sock monkey comes with a hat and scarf, too, so he is ready to deliver presents with Santa. This next idea is a simple pattern for a beautiful cotton dishcloth. It is great for beginners, and can be made into gifts or just to decorate your own kitchen.
