With rice being dangerous for birds , it is no longer thrown on the bride and groom anymore. With the end of this timeless tradition , comes the search for an alternative. Bird seed is a cheap alternative to rice but to be honest it is boring. For a lively and fun alternative to rice try these suggestions.

Bubbles:

Bubbles have been a popular alternative to rice. Bubbles for weddings can be gotten in cute little white bottles. Bubbles are also cheap enough that you can give one bottle to each guest. Little children will love taking part in the fun of blowing bubbles at the bride and groom.

Doves:

Having a set of doves released as the bride and groom come out of the church is a very chic alternative to rice. Doves represent purity and love. So what better to have released as you live the church than doves to represent the love and purity of your marriage.

Rose Petals:

Imagine rushing out of the church into a soft rain of rose petals. This alternative to rice is beautiful and elegant. The wedding pictures will look beautiful with you and your new spouse surrounded by colorful rose petals falling down on the two of you.

Release butterflies:

Live butterflies being released as you exit the church makes for a beautiful alternative to rice. Picture hundreds of live butterflies taking flight as they are released. You can order live butterflies that come in their own individual package so that each of your guests can have a butterfly to release. Most bridal magazines has ad for companies that sell live butterflies for weddings.

Confetti and party streamers:

For a really colorful and fun alternative to rice use confetti and party streamers. Make up little pouches for each of your guests that consists of confetti and small strips of party streamers. Have the pouches set up on a table near the doors of the church so that when the guest exit they can stop and grab one. When you exit the church be prepared for a beautiful burst of color.

Remember that with the dying of a timeless tradition comes the birth a new and lively alternatives. Now a days weddings are more what the bride and groom enjoy and not so much based on traditions that were at one time long held onto. With the birth of these new and creative alternatives you are now free to let your creativity come alive.
