Fun Creative Napkins Folds for a Winter Wedding Reception

Michele Arrowsmith- Rowe
From the soft and quiet snowdrifts, shimmery stars, and rustic evergreens - - no wonder this season's brides are "flocking" to these winter motifs as their wedding themes! So, why not add an "extra" element of surprise to express your theme? Well, here are two simple, fun, and creative napkin folds that can do just that!

Your linen choice is an important factor before folding your napkins! Two important factors before you pick the color and fabric of your napkin: first, not all napkin folds work with all fabrics; second, the color and fabric you pick will express how formal or casual your event is going to be. So, keep this in mind when choosing your napkins! Here are this season's popular colors: winter white, cream, gold, silver, copper, icy blue, navy blue, deep red, burgundy, dark green, purple, plum, and brown. Also, popular fabrics this winter are: crushed shimmer, velvet, lamour, satin, sheer, taffeta, hemstitchand damask.

The Snowflake motif is the rage this season! So, why not add an extra "drift" to your design? Why not pick a snowflake napkin fold? Well, here is that very simple fold! First, lay the napkin wrong side up in front of you. Second, fold all four corners into center making a diamond. While holding the center, gently flip the napkin over. Again, fold all corners into the center of the napkin making a square. While holding the center, flip the napkin over again. Fold all corners into the center for the last time into a smaller diamond. Finally, pull out all four corners from the bottom. Place the fold diagonally on top of a plate or charger. Finally, finish the design by adding a favor to the middle of the napkin. Go to "You Tube" at: www.youtube.com/watch?v=HAsoo-CYeEA for a demonstration of the fold. Want favor and napkin ideas? How about crushed shimmer white napkins and add a sparkling jeweled snowflake ornament? Go to www.weddingfavorsunlimited.com. This website has many snowflake favor options - - including ornaments! Having a holiday themed wedding? How about the "Tree with star" napkin fold? Lay the napkin wrong side up in front of you. Fold the napkin in half by taking the bottom of the napkin and folding it up to the top. You should have a long horizontal napkin fold. Take the napkin and place it vertically. Take the bottom two corners and fold them in to each other making a triangle at the bottom of the napkin. Repeat with the top. Next, fold both the tops of the triangles in towards each other meeting in the middle of the napkin. The napkin should appear as an envelope. Then, take the bottom of the fold and fold away from you toward the table folding the napkin in half. You should see a rectangle with a triangle in the center! If not, you folded the napkin in the wrong direction! Next, take the top right and left side of the rectangle and tuck them behind the triangle. You should have a triangle! Fold the triangle in half with flaps in front. Finally, place a star pin or napkin holder on top of the triangle and fan out the napkin. Stand up on a plate or charger. Voila! You have a tree with a star on the top! Go to "You Tube" at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PWHfOEVbCfA&NR=1 for a demonstration of this fold. Have a more rustic wedding theme? Pick a cream hemstitch napkin; add mini "Silver Star" clothes pins and a twig of evergreen. Go to www.factorydirectcraft.com for their selection of mini Silver Star clothes pins. Or, do you have an elegant wedding? Pick a green lamour napkin and add a sophisticated star broche. Go to www.fabulousbrooch.com for their excellent selection of brooches.

Why winter motifs are now a popular wedding theme? Well, wedding bells are ringing! That's why winter motifs are now a popular wedding theme! So, pick one of these napkin folds, winter colors, and fabrics and your wedding will definitely be unique! Just have a merry time!
