Show Off Your Creative Side with These Cards

Regular Halloween Party Invitations.

Difficulty: easy

Preparation time: it will depend on how elaborate you will make it. It took me about 3 minutes for the ghost and about 5 for the pumpkin (see picture)

You will need:
Your favorite Halloween Cookie Cutters
Construction paper or heavy print paper
Markers and/or crayons
Scissors
Decorative items, such as eyes, ribbon, cotton balls, etc.
Glue (hot glue ok)

1. Begin by folding and cutting the paper in half (width). 2. Fold again in half and place the cookie cutter next to the folded edge and trace. Make sure that part of the shape is off the edge, this way, when you cut out the folded card, the top will remain attached to the bottom. 3. Cut out the card. 4. Decorate based on the shape chosen. 5. Insert party information on the inside of the card.

Puffy Halloween Party Invitations.

Difficulty: medium

Preparation time: it will depend on how elaborate you will make it and how it will be sewn. It took me about 15 to 20 minutes for the haunted house sewn by hand (see picture)

You will need:
Paper bags (from the grocery stores)
Your favorite Halloween Cookie Cutters
Markers and/or Paints and brushes
Scissors
Decorative items, such as eyes, ribbon, cotton balls, etc.
Glue (hot glue ok)
Stuffing (newspaper, quilt stuffing, cotton balls, etc)
Sewing machine or needle and thread

1. Choose the shape you will use for the card and measure on paper. 2. Cut a piece of paper twice the size of the cookie cutter. Fold in half. 3. Place the cookie cutter on folded paper and trace. 4. Cut the two pieces. 5. On one side you will decorate based on the cutter chosen. You can decorate by adding items to the shape or by painting on it 6. On the other side you will write the party information. 7. When the sides are done, begin sewing the two together making sure to leave enough space to insert the stuffing. You can sew by hand, for a more rustic presentation. Or you can sew with the sewing machine, for a smoother look. 8. Insert stuffing. 9. When the stuffing is completed, sew the puffy card shut.

Foam Halloween Party Invitations.

Difficulty: easy

Preparation time: it will depend on how elaborate you make it. I took about 15 minutes to complete the bat (see picture).

You will need:
Foam sheets (each should yield 4 shapes plus the material needed to create rings)
Sheets of paper (you can use colored, white, construction)
Decorative items, such as eyes, ribbon, cotton balls, etc.
Glue (fast drying)
Tape
Scissors
Ring Napkin holders (or you can make the rings with the foam)
Crayons to color on the foam
Markers or Pens for the invitations

1. Trace your favorite Halloween shape on foam sheet. 2. Decorate it based on shape chosen. 3. Either make a ring out of the foam or use the ring napkin holder and attach to the back of foam shape. 4. Cut the regular sheet in fourths and write party information on each. 5. Roll invitation and insert it in ring. 6. If you intend to use the Halloween napkin holder, make sure to use glue that will bond to the foam and the holder for a long time. If you choose to use the holder on its own, you can secure the holder to the foam with regular tape. If you are using foam, you can use tape to close the ring, and tape to attach it to the shape. If you use black foam, the black electrical wiring tape works well.

You can choose the classical invitation:

What: _________________________
When: ________________________
Where: ________________________
R.S.V.P. _______________________

Or you can come up with some clever Halloween phrases such as:

Let's go batty at the party
on ________________ at _________________
R.S.V.P. _______________________________
(for your bat invitation)

or

I have the haunting feeling that we will see each other
on __________________ at ____________________
to celebrate a phantasmagorical Halloween.
R.S.V.P. ____________________________________
(for the haunted house)

As an added bonus, you can use the cookie cutters to create decorations for your party and, if you are having a sit down dinner, name place cards.
