Fun Easter Gifts for Your Neighbors

Blair Hill
Of course on Christmas you remember your neighbors - whether you bare gifts, carols or cookies, your neighbors are remembered. But why stop with just Christmas? Really, creating bonds with neighbors can benefit individuals and families in many ways. Need someone to watch your dog while out of town ? Ask a neighbor! Need someone to watch the kids while you run a quick errand ? Ask a neighbor! Need a stick of butter or an extra light bulb? Ask a neighbor! More than the favors that neighbors can help us with, neighbors can also become some of the best friends.

So why stop at Christmas for bearing goodies as a reminder of your gratitude for your neighbors. Easter is another perfect time to share your gratitude - whether you celebrate it in a religious way or in a more secular way.

One of the easiest goodies you can make for your neighbors are Easter/spring time cookies. The youngest of children can even help with this one! Simply find your favorite recipe for sugar cookies - or purchase a roll premade at your local grocery store. Use some festive cookie cutters such as Easter bunnies, eggs, umbrellas, flowers, etc - and cut your dough into fun shapes. Bake the cookies - and then ice the cookies with colored icing (using a white icing and mixing it with food color) and top with sprinkles! Put your cookies on a spring colored plate, or even a cute Easter basket!

Another great way to show your gratitude during this Easter time of year is by giving flower seeds and/or flower buds. Flowers not only brighten up your neighbors - but since they will be growing outdoors - they will brighten up the colors of your neighbors yards that you see each day! Pick perennial flowers that are easy to care for and grow such as peony, armeria or Siberian iris.

If you're really looking to swoon your neighbors, or you just have a lot of time on your hands - why not offer to help them with a task? A note with the words "I care, let me help" can mean more than any delicious cookies or beautiful flowers any day.

However you may choose to brighten your neighbors Easter/Spring season this year, it is certain that your generosity and caring will be seen! Building bonds by the mere gift of cookies, flowers, or notes.
