Fun Easter Ideas

Especially with older children that have started to question the existence of the Easter Bunny, these tips are sure to make Easter this year stand out in their memories.

1.) Celebrate Easter early. The Bunny has too many places to visit, so he's going to stop at a few houses earlier... maybe before school on Thursday or even after school. The point is... they are expecting his visit on Sunday... but he will surprise them this year.

2.)Take the kids out for a walk. When you get back, the Easter Bunny will have left a note challenging the children to find all their eggs in 10 minutes. (He will let them know how many there are.) Act as surprised as they are that the Bunny visited while you were out. Set the timer and help them find all their eggs. (If they don't find all their eggs in time, the Bunny threatens to return and take everything back. He won't really do that of course.)

3.) If the kids ask about a basket, just tell them that money is tight this year and you don't think the bunny could afford a basket. Surprise them with their basket on another time. You can wait for Easter, maybe even as late as Easter evening.

4.)Instead of candy in their eggs, put change or money. They can save all their money in a jar for a rainy day, or for a family vacation.

5.)Have an egg dying contest. Whoever can come up with the most creative egg design wins a prize, like a stuffed animal, a pack of gum, a certificate, etc.

6.) Go to the zoo. The weather is warming up enough for a surprise trip to the zoo, and Easter is sure to be a day when the zoo is not crowded. (You will want to check and make sure it is open.)

7.) Just like the egg dying contest, offer other prizes in more Easter related contests. Carrot eating, Hopping, seeing who can travel the furthest with a spoon in their mouth balancing a (hard boiled of course) egg, and anything else you can come up with. Have a bag of prizes, and let the winner of each contest pick out their own prizes.

Once you break out of your normal Easter routine, anything is possible! Have fun with your Easter this year!
