Fun and Easy Christmas Dinner Beverages for Kids

Fun Non-alcoholic Kids Beverages to Serve with Christmas Dinner

C. Jeanne Heida
When it comes to Christmas drinks and Christmas cocktails, the adults do seem to have all the fun. But, luckily for children there's also a fantastic assortment of kid friendly, alcohol free Christmas beverages that the younger crowd can enjoy.

If your Christmas guest list includes children, then having a few kid-friendly Christmas beverages on hand will make them feel like part of the crowd.

Welch's sparkling grape juice. The Welch's company which is known for their premium juice and jam products also delivers a sparking juice in a Christmas theme. We bought a couple of these last Christmas for the kids and non-drinkers in our family and they were certainly a hit. Welch's holiday beverage line includes white grape with a Holiday Snowman wrapper and red grape, decorated in a festive Gingerbread Man motif. Prices range for this product, but we did find this line at our local Rite Aid for $6 for a two-pack. Here's the link to Welch's Holiday product page so you can see how cute these are for yourself.

Roy Rogers and Shirley Temples are a classic kids' mocktail beverage and amazingly easy to make.

The boys prefer the Roy Rogers which is made with Coke and Grenadine:
1. Fill a tumbler with ice cubes.
2. Top with Coca Cola.
3. Stir in a spoonful of grenadine.
4. Garnish with a maraschino cherry.

For girls, Ginger Ale and Grenadine are the basis for the Shirley Temple:
1. Fill a Tumbler with ice cubes.
2. Top with Ginger Ale (or 7up if preferred).
3. Stir in a spoonful of grenadine.
4. Garnish with a twist of orange.

Martinelli's Sparking Juices may be the original manufacturer of sparking juices, having been around since 1868. No longer limited to just sparkling apple cider, Martinelli's now carries a wide range of sparkling juice blends ranging from apple-mango to apple-raspberry, and even apple-pomegranate. Local groceries usually carry a limited line of Martinelli sparkling juice. For a complete list of products or even to order sparking juices directly from the Martinelli people, here's the link.

DIY sparkling grape. For home canners with a hefty store of canned grape juice, it's very easy to make your own sparking grape juice by combining a pint of grape juice concentrate with a 2L bottle of ginger ale of 7up. This delicious beverage can be served on the rocks with a twist of lemon.

To make a mock champagne so kids and non-drinkers can join in a "before-dinner" Christmas toast, the concord grape juice can be substituted with white grape juice.
