Indian Corn Snacks

Ingredients:

One-fourth cup of butter or margarine

One pack of mini marshmallows (10.5 ounces)

Yellow food coloring

Eight cups of peanut butter and chocolate puffed corn cereal (such as Puffs)

Ten lollipop sticks (can be bought at crafts and cake decorating stores)

One cup of candy-coated chocolate pieces (M&Ms can be used however rounded candy pieces tend to look more realistic once the snack is complete)

Tan and green raffia

Wax paper

Large baking sheet

Directions:

Use the wax paper to line a large baking sheet. Set the baking sheet aside. Over low heat, melt the butter in a large and heavy sauce pan. Begin adding in the mini marshmallows. Stir the mixture until the marshmallows are melted and smooth. Tint the mixture with yellow food coloring until you reach the desired color of choice. Add the cereal and one-half cup of chocolate candy pieces. Stir until the mixture is evenly coated. Remove the mixture from heat.

Lightly grease your hands in order to keep the mixture from sticking. Quickly divide the mixture into 10 long, oblong sections to create a cob of corn. Push a lollipop stick into each corn shape. Place each ear of corn on the baking sheet lined with wax paper. Press the one-half cup of remaining chocolate candies into the corn shapes to resemble Indian corn. Let the treats set and hardened.

Use the raffia to tie to the lollipop stick. The raffia will resemble the corns' husk. Using both the tan and the green mixed together looks best. Tie around the top of the stick close to the corn. Let the ends of the raffia cover the stick completely and flow freely to the end. It is unbelievable how realistic this snack can look!
