Chris Hemsworth can currently be seen in the 3D summer blockbuster "Thor" playing the title character alongside Natalie Portman and Anthony Hopkins. The following is some fun facts about the relative newcomer.

Background: Chris Hemsworth was born in Australia and lived for awhile in an Aboriginal community in the Outback. For most of his life, he lived in Melbourne though. He got into acting after high school because he simply thought it looked fun. If he looks familiar, you might remember him from the 2009 film Star Trek.

Fun fact on the movie Thor: Chris Hemsworth beat out his younger brother, Liam, for the part of Thor. On Jimmy Kimmel Live, he teasingly said that he sent a photo of himself in his Thor costume to his brother and said 'sorry'. (Audiences might know Liam from the Miley Cyrus film "The Last Song").

The actor on his Marvel character Thor: "He's quite obnoxious and powerful and arrogant and controls the storms and has a big magical hammer." (Said on the David Letterman Show).

Fun fact: David Letterman joked that he'd like to talk like Chris Hemsworth does; saying that then people wouldn't think of him as a light-weight pretty boy.

On preparing for the God of Thunder role: The actor said he actually bulked up too much for the role initially. He told CinemaCon that his hands went numb after putting on the costume because he had gotten too big for it.

Upcoming movie roles: Fans can see the actor in the 2011 action flick "Red Dawn", the 2011 horror film "The Cabin in the Woods", and the Marvel superhero movie "The Avengers".
