Lily Potter was the most amazing mother anyone could ever hope to have. To her, nothing was more important than her son Harry. She did everything she could to protect Harry Potter from the Dark Lord and by doing so she gave Harry Potter a power that is unlike any other. Lily may not have been able to have been there for her son, but long after her death, she continues to protect Harry Potter. In her memory, let's look back on some of the fun facts about this character.

Fun Facts about Harry Potter Character Lily Potter #1: Muggle-Born

Both of Lily's parents were Muggles. But, this doesn't mean that they were unhappy about their daughter being a wizard. In fact, the Evans family was thrilled that their daughter would be attending Hogwarts. Of course, her sister was less than pleased about her sister's abilities.

Fun Facts about Harry Potter Character Lily Potter #2: In Gryffindor House

Along with her future husband, Lily was in Gryffindor House. This really isn't the least bit surprising when you consider how brave Lily Potter was. Anyone willing to put themselves in between Voldemort and his intended victim was extremely brave.

Fun Facts about Harry Potter Character Lily Potter #3: Was Head Girl

Another fun fact is that Lily Potter was Head Girl, while her future husband James was Head Boy. Lily was an extremely smart student and was very well behaved. Another fun fact was that she was in the Slug Club. The Slug Club was a group of student who Horace Slughorn thought would be successful or who came from important wizard families.

Lily Potter was a smart student, but one of the things she exceeded at was potions. While Harry Potter may not have been as good at potion making as his mother was, there was no denying the fact that Slughorn thought Harry Potter was excelling at potion making because of how successful his mother had been.

Fun Facts about Harry Potter Character Lily Potter #5: Chose to Die for Her Son

Voldemort gave Lily Potter the chance to escape. Voldemort's only concern was to murder Lily Potter's son, but she wasn't about to stand aside and let that happen. She placed herself in front of her son and died for him. This left Harry Potter with a power that Voldemort could not compete with.

Fun Facts about Harry Potter Character Lily Potter #6: Both Parents Died Before 1981

Unfortunately, Lily Potter's parents passed away sometime before her own death. This is why Harry Potter was forced to go and live with the Dursleys.

Fun Facts about Harry Potter Character Lily Potter #7: Was in the Order of the Phoenix

Another fun fact is that this character was a member of the Order of the Phoenix. While part of this group, she actually faced Voldemort three other times and lived.

Fun Facts about Harry Potter Character Lily Potter #8: Her Wand Was Made of Willow

One last fun fact is that Lily Potter's wand was made from willow. Willow is said to be great for charm work, which may have been one of the fields Lily Potter may have entered had she lived.

    But still other than those mistakes you really know your Harry Potter. How many times haveyou read the series? I'm on my third and I'm 15 days from being 11

    You cant be Head Boy if you're not a prefect, and it was Lupin who was the Gryffindor prefect for boys in that year not James. And it wasn't proven that Lily was Head Girl we just know that she was the prefect for Gryffindor for girls in that year.

    it was never canonly stated that Lily and James were head girl and head boy- people just presumed that they were.
