Fun Facts About Minka Kelly of the Roommate

Minka Kelly currently stars as Sara Matthews in the thriller "The Roommate" opposite actress Leighton Meester. You can also see her on the TV show Parenthood. She might be best known for her role as Lyla Garrity on the TV series Friday Night Lights though. However, she told Esquire magazine that she hoped people would see her as more than just a 17 year old cheerleader from Friday Night Lights. And there is definitely more to Minka Kelly than Friday Night Lights.

Fun fact: Even though she played a convincing cheerleader on the TV show Friday Night Lights, she says that in high school she was actually the antithesis of a cheerleader.

Filmography: The actress has had brief appearances in the TV series Cracking Up, Drake & Josh, American Dreams, What I Like About You, and most recently played the role of Gaby in the TV show Parenthood. Her filmography includes the movies: Devil's Highway, The Pumpkin Karver, The Kingdom, and (500) Days of Summer. Her role in The Roommate is her biggest role to date.

Fun fact: The actress loves music, especially the song Purple Rain by Prince.

Fun fact: Just Go With It stars Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston, but the actress said she didn't get to meet Jennifer Aniston when they were filming the movie.

Minka Kelly Bio: Minka Kelly was born in Los Angeles, California but grew up mostly in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She doesn't express much fondness for Albuquerque though. Her mother was a stripper and her father was a guitar player for the band Aerosmith. Apparently, she didn't form a relationship with her father till she was a teenager but she now refers to him as her best friend.

Fun fact: She told Craig Ferguson that her name Minka is just a name her mom imagined up. However, there are other people in the world with that name. It is of Polish origin and is usually a shortened version for the name Wilhelmina.
