If you missed her performance in Winter's Bone, you definitely need to run down to the nearest Red Box and rent it. She's brilliant in it and rightly deserves her Oscar nomination. And for that matter, if you missed her earlier performance in the movie The Burning Plain, rent that as well. Jennifer Lawrence is such a talented dramatic actress it almost makes me disappointed that she will be seen later this year in the Mel Gibson movie The Beaver and the superhero movie X-Men: First Class.
So, it's been established that she's talented. But what else is there to know about this up-and-coming star? Here a few random fun facts about Jennifer Lawrence:
Where Have I Seen Her? For those of you who don't frequent the indie theaters, if she looks familiar, perhaps it's because you saw her on the sitcom The Bill Engvall Show? She played his daughter, Lauren, on that show.
Story Lover: The actress, who started auditioning for roles at age 14, says she has always loved stories in any shape or form.
Fun Oscars Fact: While Natalie Portman and Annette Bening are probably at home writing their Oscar speeches, Jennifer Lawrence says she hasn't thought up an Oscar speech but has been working on her "losing face".
Is she or isn't she? In one interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Jennifer Lawrence is described as a "total tomboy" who played field hockey, softball, and even had a spot on the boy's basketball team back home. Yet, in an interview with Under the Radar, the actress says "she's never gotten into sports."
Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson. Having confessed to never being shy and having tried out for the role of Bella in the film Twilight, Jennifer Lawrence could have spared the shy Kristen Stewart from being thrown into the spotlight before she was ready had she been cast instead.
Fun Childhood Fact: The Kentucky-born actress says she went through a "wood-chopping phase" when she was around ten years old.
