Ronald Regan was the 40th President of the United States of America. He was born today one hundred years ago. In honor of his birthday, here are some fun facts about former President Reagan:

Fun Bio Facts: Ronald Regan was born in Tampico, Illinois on February 6, 1911. He is the only President to come from that state.

Did you know that his middle name is Wilson? His nickname was Dutch.

Fun Acting Facts: Before holding a political office, he was known for being an actor. His first movie was the 1937 film Love Is on the Air. He played a radio station crime reporter, which wasn't far off from one of his real jobs as a radio sports announcer. After Love Is on the Air, he went on to act in more than 70 other films and TV shows. In fact, one movie he made shortly after Love Is on the Air was a 1939 film called The Code of the Secret Service. That movie ended up inspiring a kid to become a secret service agent. And would you believe that kid was Jerry Parr? Jerry Parr was the secret service agent who ended up saving Ronald Reagan's life when John Hinckley attempted to assassinate the President in 1981.

Did you know he lost part of his hearing due to the loud noise of a gun being fired too close to his ears while filming a movie?

Fun Political Facts: Ronald Reagan began his first term as President on the same day that the American hostages were freed from Iran. At 69 years old, he is the oldest person to have been elected US President.

Did you know Calvin Coolidge was one of his favorite Presidents?

Fun Personal facts: Some of Reagan's favorite things included Peanuts comic strip, eggplant lasagna, The poem If by Rudyard Kipling, the TV show Little House on the Prairie, and The Bible.
