Fun Family Activities in Denver on Mother's Day

Steve Thompson
If you want to make Mother's Day as special as possible in Denver, it's a good idea to think outside the box. Consider fun family activities other than the usual brunch at Mom's favorite restaurant so she knows how much she means to the family.

Denver Zoo

Kids and adults alike love looking at exotic animals. The Denver Zoo is one of the most popular destinations in the city, and for good reason. Mom will love the opportunity to explore all the exhibits with her children. Plus, if you're members of the Denver Zoo, you can take part in the Members' Mothers Day Brunch.

Picnic in the Park

Pack a picnic lunch with all of Mom's favorite foods (as long as she doesn't have to prepare them) and haul your load to a local park. There are some beautiful urban parks in Denver, from Cheesman to City Park, to Wash Park. After lunch, consider taking a nature walk or letting Mom sit and read a book while the kids spend a few minutes on the playground equipment.

Farmer's Market

Celebrate Mother's Day in a unique fashion with a visit to one of the many Denver area farmer's markets. There are plenty of markets both in the city and just outside it, and you can spend a few hours picking over produce and other goods to take home with you. Mom will enjoy gathering fresh ingredients for meals to come.

Antique Shopping

Mother's Day wouldn't be complete without a little bit of shopping. Visit Antique Row in Denver and visit as many antique shops and malls as possible. Give Mom free reign to explore all the little nooks and crannies, and make sure to pick out something she might like to commemorate the day.

Run or Walk

Feel like celebrating Mother's Day with a little exercise? The Second Annual Mother's Day 5k in Denver is the place to be, whether you want to run the whole way or take a leisurely stroll with the stroller. After the race, continue honoring moms with a snack- and prize-filled party.

Having Fun on Mother's Day in Denver

Remember that Mother's Day is all about celebrating and honoring one of the most important people in your life. Keep in mind that it doesn't matter what you do or where you go, as long as you're spending time together as a family. Fortunately, Denver makes it easy with plenty of restaurants, museums, and other destinations.
