If anyone in your family enjoys Bluegrass or even plays a stringed instrument suitable for Bluegrass music, you might just want to attend the Full Moon Pickin' Party on the Friday night of Father's Day weekend. Proceeds go to fund restoration and events at the Warner Parks, a popular and important part of Nashville family fun which suffered severe damage during the flood of 2010. Advance tickets are available for $15, $10 for kids. If you bring an approved picking instrument for performing with other pickers, your ticket is only $5. Children 6 and under may attend for free. Beverages are included in the price of the tickets. You are encouraged to bring your own seating. The events are located at the Equestrian Barn on Old Hickory.

If your family enjoys camping and animals, the Nashville Zoo is holding one of its Zzzoofari Slumber events the night before Father's Day. If you are members of the zoo, a family of three can attend for under $100, non-members for $120. If you have 8 or more in your family or have another family or two who can join you to make 8 or more people, everyone gets in for $25/per person.
For the less traditional family, the Nashville Rollergirls will be having a match between the Music City All Stars and the Chicago Outfit Syndicate. Adult tickets are $15 through tickets master, tickets for children aged 7-12 are $12 and children 6 and under get in free.
The health conscious family have a few options, too. Your family may have a father, but other kids are not so lucky. Consider sharing the wealth and having your family participate in the 5k walk "A Celebration of Family and Fatherhood" in Whites Creek. Or you might want to participate in the 5 mile portion of "Walk 100 Miles with the Mayor," held the day before Father's Day at Richland Creek Greenway.

Centennial Park will hold a free "Traditional Father's Day park band concert." It will begin at 7pm in the bandshell at the park. No details are available regarding refreshments, but the Centennial Café is located in the park and often sells food and drink at these events.
At Crockett Park in Brentwood on Father's Day, there will be a free concert featuring The Devonshires. Their performance at the Eddy Arnold Amphitheater is part of the 2011 Brentwood Summer Concert series. The Devonshires' show will feature skits in addition to the music.
