Costume Movie Screenings
Instruct members of your club to attend the next movie screening wearing a costume. Characters from can be assigned to members or chosen at random but should be based on the movie that everyone plans on watching. Costume screenings are among the movie club ideas that work well when planning to watch movies that are part of a franchise or specific genre.
Deciding on ensemble to wear to movie screenings that are similar to Sex and the City, Twilight or Avatar may be easier than finding costume ideas for an event showing Couples Retreat or Slumdog Millionaire. You can also require everyone in the movie club to come to the screening dressed as a specific character. Host a costume contest that rewards members who have the best looking costume or resembles the character the most.
Authentic Movie Food
Replace popcorn, candy and other food that is typically served at movie theaters with a more realistic menu for your club meeting. Choose food that was displayed in the movie trailer or during a scene in previous films that are similar to the one that your movie club will be watching. The menu could include Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans if a Harry Potter styled movie is on your screening schedule or value meals from a local fast food restaurant if the club is watching films similar to Morgan Spurlock's documentary, Supersize Me.
Discuss possible menu options with all movie club members and instruct everyone to vote for the food that should be served at the next screening. A voting system for the food menu can help to eliminate the risk of severe allergy reactions and help members try new dishes that they would not normally purchase.
Fan Site Awards
Host an awards ceremony for writers who operate or contribute to fan websites, blogs, forums or other movie related destinations online. You will need certificates, trophies or other tangible items to present to winners during your movie club's awards ceremony. Movie themed gift packs could also be made as prizes if your spending budget will not accommodate expensive trophies. Gift packs can be made using a variety of items including movie tickets, Hollywood memorabilia, film posters, DVD packs, commercial movie club subscriptions and cinema snacks. Ask members of your movie club to nominate people or websites for the awards and create multiple categories for nominees, if necessary.
