Fun Free Date Ideas: Take a Trip to the Toy Store

I know it probably sounds strange, but you'd be surprised how much fun you can have browsing the aisles of your local Toys 'R' Us. There's no better way than toy shopping to bring out an instant smile and remember your playful side. Just let loose and have fun roaming all the different sections; you can actually learn a lot about your date in a setting like this.

Talk about toys you each used to play with when you were young and how they've changed over the years. This is a light and easy way to divulge some family background and personality information.

While you're there, think ahead to future dates, perhaps you and your date can browse the board games for a future date idea.

Fun Free Date Ideas: Hiking

When the weather allows, hiking is one of the best free date options; it's peaceful, beautiful, and allows you to get some exercise while spending quality time with your date.

Take advantage of the opportunity to take pictures and talk, and don't forget to stop to enjoy particularly lovely points of scenery together.

Most likely somewhere near where you live there are small parks with walking trails, state parks, and possibly historic walking trails to take advantage of; so just do a little internet research beforehand and you should turn up some good local hiking spots.

Fun Free Date Ideas: First Friday Events

Most cities now have free First Friday events for local residents and visiting tourists; this is a great way to take advantage of local music and such, for free.

Take a nice leisurely stroll around the city, window shopping and chatting, and check out some of the local music talent playing on street corners and heavily trafficked promenades. This is a fabulous way to check out some great bands that typically charge a cover fee when playing bars or taverns.

First Friday dates only come up once a month so this can be a good recurring date option, and if you want to through in a little travel you can always head to a neighboring city's First Friday to mix it up.

Fun Free Date Ideas: Conclusion

With prices and unemployment rates as high as they are right now daters have to be ever conscious of budget friendly date ideas, the options mentioned above are all personal go-to favorites of mine. Give these fun free date ideas a try and your wallet will thank you.

The first idea's even better if you have a better store nearby than Toys R Us.

great ideas! esp the Toys r Us in Times Square! And I've had some of the best dates ever hiking the concrete jungle that is Manhattan. The West Side Highway at sunset is amazing

Wonderful ideas! We hike frequently and often go to the little beach/lake near our home (yes! a beach in SE Ohio lol!)
