Fun and free Halloween events in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex area

One of the benefits of living in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex area is that there is never a shortage of things to do. For any holiday or occasion that occurs, you can choose from a multitude of events and celebrations in towns throughout the Metroplex, and Halloween is no different. Here are a few of the myriad Halloween events in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex area.

Grapevine - Halloween on Main Street

Every year, the historic Main Street in Grapevine is home to a free Halloween festival. In 2010, the event falls on Friday, Oct. 29 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. You have access to six city blocks of trick-or-treating (and reportedly over one ton of candy!), as well as carnival games, live music, prizes, kettle corn and more. Even grown-ups can get in on the fun by dressing up for the costume contest, which is open to all ages.

Watauga - Halloween Bash

Another of the free Halloween events around is the Halloween Bash at the Watauga Community Center at 7901 Indian Springs Road. In 2010, this annual event will be on Saturday, Oct. 23 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. There will be games with candy for prizes, a costume contest and bounce house, all free of charge. In addition, concessions will be sold for $0.50 to $3 and the haunted house and hay ride cost $3 per person.

Haltom City - Haltom Halloween

On Friday, Oct. 29 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Haltom City hosts a Halloween carnival at the Haltom Recreation Center at 4839 Broadway Ave. This free event is a fun, safe alternative to trick-or-treating. The Halloween contest starts at 7 p.m. sharp, so do not be late! Bring a nonperishable food item for the Community Food Bank.

Farmers Branch - Halloween in the Park

Head out to Farmers Branch Historical Park, 2540 Farmers Branch Lane, on Saturday, Oct. 30 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. for Halloween in the Park. Admission is free, although they do ask that you bring a nonperishable food item for the Metrocrest Social Services Center. There will be carnival games, trick-or-treat stations, entertainment, a haunted house and much more.
