Looking for fun stuff to do, but on a budget? Sick of spending too much money going out, but bored of sitting at home? Check out some of Greensboro, NC's free places to go and things to do.

1.) Center City Park exercise classes:
Center City Park is a relatively new park located in the middle of Greensboro's downtown. Great for taking pictures, walking, playing chess, or just sitting on a bench and people watching, it is quite a popular venue for the public. They also offer free outdoor exercise classes every Monday night from 6:30 to 7:30. The program is called Fitness by the Fountain, and the classes vary week by week, but include things such as yoga, hip hop dancing, tai chi, hooping, pilates, salsa dancing, and more. For info on what classes are going on this week, and more, check their website: Center City Park

2.) Center City Park other activities:
The park offers more free activities in addition to exercise classes. Every Wednesday at lunchtime--12:00pm to 1:30pm--you can see live music in the park. It's a great way to enjoy a lunch break. Then, on every 3rd Friday of the month, you can check out their free movie night. The movie is shown outdoors, so bring blankets, chairs, snacks, and whatever else you want, then sit down and enjoy the film.

3.) First Fridays: The first Friday of every month, Greensboro hosts a free event from 6pm-9pm wherein various art studios, local shops, and other venues are open extended hours. Participants get to take a tour of the various open stores and enjoy art-centered events around downtown. Events include things like demonstrations, dance lessons, raffles, musical performances, exhibitions, and more.

4.) Greensboro Cultural Center:
If you like the arts, this is another great place to check out. Open all week, the Greensboro Cultural Center features art galleries and studios that are open to the public to explore and even do some shopping. Also, the center is located right across the street from Center City Park, so it's a great place to visit in conjunction with visiting the park. Their hours are 10am-5pm Tuesday through Saturday, 10am-7pm Wednesdays, and 2pm-5pm Sundays.

5.) The Weatherspoon Art Museum:
Another great venue for those who love visual art, the Weatherspoon Art Museum is located on UNC Greensboro's campus and has multiple floors of exhibits. They are constantly changing their exhibits, so it's worth visiting again and again. And both parking and admission are free.

6.) Greensboro Historical Museum:
If history is more of your thing than art, you definitely need to check out the Greensboro Historical Museum. With free parking and admission, and multiple floors of exhibits as well as old houses and an old cemetery located on the museum grounds, this place is definitely worth a visit. One of the coolest exhibitions they have is an interactive reproduction of Greensboro in the 1800s. You can watch old movies in the movie theater, check out the old school house, visit the drug store, listen to old phone conversations, and more.

7.) Free classes at Earth Fare:
For those who don't know, Earth Fare is a healthy grocery store in Greensboro. They often have free events, such as cooking classes, and other classes and workshops focusing on physical, mental, and spiritual health. So if that's your type of thing, you can check out their event board at their store, located on 2695 Battleground Avenue. Or check out their Facebook page: Earth Fare on Facebook

As an added bonus, they always have free samples, including lots of delicious free samples of various kinds of cheeses. Mmmmm!
