Glow Stick Spider
A glow stick spider is both creepy and fun. These can be a great creation for your Halloween party or just for a creepy decoration to your kids room. To create a glow stick spider you will need eight bracelet glow sticks, two styrofoam balls (preferably one a bit small then the other) glue (hot glue works best) and a long piece of string. Simply glue the two balls together to create the body and head of the spider. Once the glue has dried you can poke the legs into your spider, four on each side. If you can access the really small barrette glow sticks you can stick those into the head of your spider to be eyes, that will give your spider an extra creepy appearance. Afterwards tie the string around the neck of your spider if you want to hang the spider from the ceiling.
Glow Stick Dragonfly
Another fun creature to make is a glow stick dragonfly. All you will need is one of the short, thick glow sticks that usually have a hook on one end, a string and one or two pipe cleaners. Use the string to make a loop to wear the glow stick as a necklace. With the pipe cleaners twist them around the glow stick to both create wings and hold them to the glow stick. The size of your wings you create will decide if you need one or two pipe cleaners.
Night Lights
If your kid prefers to have a night light you can go a more fun option by cracking a few glow sticks to place in their room. Circle a bedside lamp with multiple bracelet or necklace glow sticks. Have trouble finding the light switch? Use clear tape to tape a small glow stick by the light switch. If you are having company spend the night you can consider activating a few glow sticks and placing them along the floor boards of the hall. This works especially well if your child is having a sleep over. Not only can your guests now find their way to the bathroom at night but it's fun and enjoyable.
Outdoors
If your kids are going to be outdoors at night give them some glow sticks to wear, it's fun and allows them to be seen by passing vehicles. The same goes for your pets. If you are walking your dog at night attach a glow stick to their collar to increase visibility. Same with your cat, especially if you are having guests spend the night and worry about the cat not being noticed by your guests.
Glow sticks have so many possibilities for fun that it is silly to reserve them only for special occasions. When you find them for really cheap stock up and go wild. You're never to old to be a kid again!
