With Halloween almost upon us, its fun to do some other crafts besides just carving a pumpkin. heres a few ideas that will keep you and your children busy for hours, and turn your house into a spook-tacular Halloween showcase!

Pasta Skeleton

What you'll need:
different types of pastas, such as macaroni, spaghetti, small zitis, large ziti, wagon wheels, shells. Black construction paper, white glue, white crayon (optional)

Have your kids make a small, light sketch on the construction paper of a skeleton, and then glue on the pieces of pasta. For the head, a wagon wheel works great. Spaghetti or angel hair is good for arm and leg bones, and smaller pastas like shells or even dried white beans make nice kneecaps. A good educational project is to label the finished project with the names of all the bones, using a white crayon.

Bag Balloon Ghost

What you'll need:
White plastic grocery bags, white balloons, black marker

Cut off any handles on the plastic bags, and cut out any colored markings left on them, too. Do not cut the seam, but cut the bag into strips. Then blow a white balloon up. Tape the cut bags around the end of the balloon, letting them hang down and float in the breeze. Use you're marker to make a scary ghost face on the balloon. Great for hanging!

Paper Plate Jack-O'-Lantern Mask

What you'll need:
paper plates, scissors, hole puncher, green yarn, markers or paints

Using the back of the paper plate, draw a jack-o-lantern face. If desired, paint the plate orange first. Use markers or paints to decorate the plate as wanted. When it is finished and dry, punch a hole on each side of the plate, run green yarn through to each side. A great mask for young children to pretend in!

Paper Scarecrow

What you'll need:
markers, scissors, glue, construction paper, pencil, google eyes(optional) and raffia or real straw(optional)

Help your child draw a scarecrow, and then cut out. Color clothes for the scarecrow, a shirt, overalls, shoes, and a hat with the markers, and then glue them onto the scarecrow. add eyes, a nose, and a mouth. For optional decoration, glue some of the real straw or the raffia around the edges of the clothing. Makes a realistic looking scarecrow!

Egg Carton Bats

What you'll need:
string, egg carton, markers

Take three cups from an egg carton and separate them. Cut an upside U in the front of the two cups on either end to look like bat wings from the front. Color on eyes and a moth, or glue on google eyes if desired. Hang from the ceiling using yarn or thin string.
