Halloween crafts can be just as fun as Halloween itself. Preparing for Halloween can add to the excitement. Do more this year than just carve your pumpkin. Let your children get involved in some true Halloween crafts and activities.
Try getting into the spirit of Halloween by decorating your house with homemade decorations. The two listed below are perfect for any home and any age child!
Halloween Silhouette Scene
Materials:
Black paper such as construction paper
Aluminum platter (choose the shape of your platter depending upon the design you wish to create)
Glue
String
Directions:
Cut a Halloween shape out the black construction paper. The shape will be the silhouette of the object. Do not try to make too detailed of a scene. A single shape works well. Some ideas are a witch on a broomstick, a jack-o-lantern, a ghost, a haunted house, a black arched back cat, etc.
Glue the scene to the middle of the platter.
Poke a hole in the top of the platter and thread the string through the hole.
Hang the platter from the ceiling.
Round pie pans look good to give the moon effect. Square and rectangular shapes also work well depending on the scene you choose.
House of Bats
Materials:
Black paper such as construction paper
Black paint
Rhinestones or crafts gems
Glue
String
Clothespins (wooden clothespins work best)
Directions:
Use the black paint to paint a clothespin black. Try using a wooden clothespin. Plastic clothespins often do not hold the paint well.
Use the black paper to cut out bat heads. The head is a round shape with pointed ears on top. Also use the black paper to cut out the bat body and wings. This can be all one piece of paper.
Glue the head of the bat to the body of the bat.
Glue the rhinestones or craft gems to create the bats eyes.
Glue the bat to the clothespin. The bat should sit in the middle of the clothespin. You will not be able to see the clothespin from the front.
Find a corner of the room to hang the string. Criss cross the string from corner to corner. Clip the clothespin bats to the string.
You will have a nest of bats in the corner of your room!
