Fun Halloween Ideas for the Work Place

Stephanie Modkins
Bring the fun back into your Halloween by using the following ideas at your work place. You can improve morale and celebrate a popular holiday at the same time. Here's how. Just:

1. Do a bake-off. Find out who can create the best Halloween inspired cookies. Ask entrants to make three dozen. Give the winner a cash prize or certificate and pass out the leftovers to staff.

2. Tell ghost stories. Have any frustrated writers at your job? Ask them to write a ghost story. This fun Halloween idea for the work place will entertain employees and give them something to talk about over the water cooler. You will be surprised at how creative some of the people you see every day are.

3. Create word games. For the know-it-alls in your company that think they're so smart, create a hodge-podge of tough word games. Bring out the favs like word search, hangman and (of course) crossword puzzles. Make them Halloween-themed and unique.

4. Wear Halloween costumes. This is a no-brainer. A fun Halloween idea for the work place (if permissible) is the donning of costumes. Put a spin on this activity by taking donations for a cash prize and then letting everyone vote for the best dresser. Be sure to set a few parameters in advance.

5. Hand out candy bags. Candy is popular with all age groups. Use some of the money you have on hand for employee appreciation to purchase candy and festive bags. Fill them with at least 15 pieces and then hand them out. (Remember the diabetics on staff and give them sugar-free treats.)

6. Organize a potluck. A fun Halloween idea for the work place that never gets old is the organization of a potluck. Create a list of food and let people to sign-up for what they want to bring. Ask everyone to be festive and pull an aspect of Halloween into his or her dish.

7. Throw a talent contest. See how skilled your co-workers are by throwing a talent show. You can do one with a musical theme that allows employees to dance to Thriller or reenact Rocky Horror. Winners can get a hand-made trophy and a lot of fanfare from their peers.

Ready to celebrate Halloween? Use these ideas at your work place and help your ho-hum peers remember their childhood. They can have fun and take a break from the usual monotony.
