Have Fun Finding Halloween Candy Alternatives Your Trick or Treaters Will Love

Violet Rose
You can have as much fun as the trick-or-treaters this Halloween by handing out candy alternatives. Discover your creative side by searching for something special and different for your trick-or-treaters this year. The possibilities are as endless as your imagination! Your trick or treaters will be sure to remember you for your unique treats.

Visit a party shop or dollar store. Many times you can find bulk fun favors for a good price. Keep your eyes open for small items suitable for all age groups. Here are a just a few items you may find:

  1. Balloons. Kids of all ages enjoy balloons (many adults still enjoy hitting a balloon or two!). Different shaped balloon add a little variety.
  2. Stickers and temporary tattoos. Stickers and tattoos come in every subject from teddy bears for younger kids to dora the explorer or monsters geared towards older kids.
  3. Miniature decks of playing cards. There are a wide variety to choose from: Go Fish, Old Maid or a classic deck of playing cards.
  4. Small bottles of bubbles. These can also be found where wedding supplies are sold since blowing bubbles have replaced throwing rice at many weddings.
  5. Bouncy Balls. Boys especially love these.
  6. Plastic novelties, such as plastic teeth, eyeballs, scary monsters and more.
Other Halloween candy alternatives you can offer include small boxes or raisins or granola. Coins are always a hit (what kid or adult) doesn't like getting money? Consider how many treat or treaters you normally have to help you decide if you can afford to give pennies, nickles, dimes or quarters away.

If you enjoy baking or cooking, consider making popcorn balls, candied apples, or maybe your own special Halloween recipe. If making your own treats, place a label on the outside of your treat with the ingredients, your name, address and phone number. This will help parents feel comfortable letting their children consume your treat.
