Crafts for fun indoor activities- Crafts are so fun for our children. Why not incorporate into a day of home school? A few ideas to try, are using beans and macaroni, for art or jewelery. Talk about how the macaroni is made and what it is made from. Make categorizing charts for the beans and macaroni. Use your own animals as the base for a craft. Tell your children to pick a pet of theirs to draw, write about, and learn about. Discuss the importance of adopting pets and caring for pets. Painting is great for art class, so many kids of so many ages love to paint. Have your children choose a favorite artist, show them certain famous ones and their artwork. Have them paint their favorite piece of artwork and write about the artist who created it. These are all great for a home school child's learning.
Learning games for fun indoor activities- Another thing to try, are games. Use it for learning but also for keeping your children busy during a rainy, cold day. A fun game to play, is alphabet toss. Take alphabet magnets, a bucket and see how fast they can name each letter and get it into the bucket. First one done wins. Its great for younger children who are working on the alphabet or learned it recently. Another fun indoor game is pin the parts on the body. This helps children learn the human body and have fun doing it.
You can do this with animals, insects, etc. Take note to how well their doing on learning these things and try the game again in a week, see how well they learned. A final fun indoor game for home schooled children is, flash card madness. Take the appropriate math or alphabet fact flash cards for your child and play this fun learning game. Have them sit at an empty table. Go over the flash cards with each child. Now, have them go as fast as they can through the flash cards. Timing them, see how fast they go. This is for you to see how well their doing and whoever gets the better time, wins! All of these are a fun way to pass a day stuck indoors.
Other fun activities for indoors- Have your children do drama class. Have them remember poems and recite for you and the other children. You can enjoy doing plays of favorite books, like The Three Little Pigs, or a more advanced play as Romeo and Juliet. Hold a music class. Make instruments with household items. Then have the children make music together. It is so much fun! These are other great ways to enjoy the indoors and express themselves.
Being home on a rainy day can be boring. Make it fun and learning experience for your home schooled children.
