You only have enough extra time in your busy schedule to work a few hours a week. But you really can't handle any more boredom like a dull job!
Here are some ideas for fun jobs which are great to work at while in college:
1. Dinner cruise server. Serving is never boring. It gives you the opportunity to interact with entirely different people each and every day. Don't worry about doing the same monotonous task over and over. Serving will keep you on your toes! Literally. As a server, you're always doing something different whether it is serving drinks, singing happy birthday to a guest, running food, upselling, serving food, or entering orders into the computer system. Working as a server on a dinner cruise is full of even more variety! It's more fun for you because your guests are on a vacation of sorts. You're their host or hostess on their mini adventure. Dinner cruises are fun environments to work in. You may not be a guest on the boat, but working there is the next best thing! Imagine serving food as you watch the beautiful sun set on the sparking ocean. You'll be laughing as you listen to the d.j.'s humor. Watching your guests do the chicken dance on the dance floor will put a smile on your face.
2. Promotional Model/Brand Ambassador. Promotional modeling is perfect for college students! You make a lot of money in a small amount of time. Pay for a brand ambassador averages between $15 and $20 an hour. Promotional modeling gigs are typically in the evenings or on the weekend so its flexible with your schedule. The best part is it's about more than just getting paid; you get free products too! How would you like an endless supply of the newest flavor of gum? Starbucks ice cream to keep you going in the middle of the night? Keep your chocolate stash from getting low when you work an M&M promotion and get tons of free M&Ms. Aside from the delicious benefits, the actual work is fun, too! You have the opportunity to interact with the public as a promotional model. This isn't a lame customer service position. The public never complains; would you if you were given free products and food? How hard can giving away free stuff be? Sounds like a lot of fun to me.
The best place to look for promotional modeling jobs is on craigslist under events or marketing. Find a job as a dinner cruise server by searching google to see if there are any dinner cruises in your area. Pretty soon you'll have enough money to do something other than fall asleep at Starbucks!
