Fun Meditation Techniques for Beginners and Experienced Users Alike

When it comes to meditating, many of people will say that you must be disciplined and follow a strict routine in order to see a beneficial outcome from the work you are putting into it. While in some respect this is very true, I also believe that meditation can be a lot of fun and allow you to experience new sensations and feelings which you may have never felt before. I have used meditation for many years of my life as a way to relieve stress and gain insight into things that affect my daily life. Whatever reason you decide to get into meditation does not matter to me, all that matters is that you enjoy what you are doing and realize that you are much more than just a physical body! With the following meditation exercises you can achieve great success in discovering how much more you are than just a physical body. With that said, let's get on with the fun!

Exercise One: Find a quiet room or area in your home which you will not be disturbed for the amount of time you wish to meditate(I recommend at least 20 minutes). Sit or lay down in any position that you are comfortable, making sure that you are free from any points of strain or restriction. Take a few deep breath's and begin to sink into your body. As you are doing this, start to become aware of the energy field which is located around the area of your heart. You can visualize this energy as a green or pink haze, or a flowing plasma like substance. Whatever works for you. If you are the type of person who is not able to visualize very well without become distracted, simply perceive this energy around your heart with your imagination. Now that you have become aware of this energy, start to feel it spinning clockwise around your body. Start slow and gradually increase the speed that it is spinning. Now that you have done this, you should feel the sensation of the energy flowing around your body. The next thing that you are going to do is similar to the step above, but instead of sensing the energy field around you heart, begin to sense the field of energy around your entire body. You can again do this through visualization or perceptual imagination. While still perceiving the energy flow around your heart center, begin to spin the energy field around your body counter-clockwise. Remember, you want to perceive the flow around your heart clockwise. When you begin to perceive both the energy of your heart center flowing clockwise and the energy flow of your body counter-clockwise you will begin to feel a rhythmic flow of energy rocking your body back and forth. This exercise is a great way to become aware of your body's constantly flowing system of energy, as well as perceive the unconditional love which creates it.

Exercise Two: As stated above, you will want to find a quiet room or area and find a comfortable spot to sit or lay down, free of any points of strain or restriction. Using visualization of perceptual imagination, bring your awareness to a point which is one foot in front of you. Once you have done that, bring your awareness to a point which is one foot behind you. Now that you have created two points, one behind you and one in front of you. Create a connection in your mind between these two points. You can start a beam of light, or energy, from one point and extend it through your body to reach the other point. Take a few moments to perceive how this feels. Now that you can sense the flow of energy between the two points, create two more points to the left and right side of your body. Create a connection between both beams of energy, like a cross, and perceive how it feels. Now that you have two beams of energy flowing through you from the front and behind, and from the left and right, create two more points, one above your body and one below your body. Create a connection that puts this beam through the center of the two beams already created by the four other points. Take a moment to sense how thise feels. This meditation is a great way to to sense the energy of the area surrounding you. Once you get comfortable with this routine of creating points one foot outside the body, try extending it by another foot, and another, further and further, and continue that process and see what feels different.

Exercise Three: This meditation is probably my favorite because of the extreme sense of joy and well-being that it brings. Follow the same beginning steps as the first two exercises, find a comfortable spot to sit and lay, free of any points of strain, and start slowly sense your breath. Once you begin to perceive your breath flowing in and out of your body, Visualize or imagine what you believe to be the energy of unconditional love. Unconditional love, in my opinion is the most pure form of all creation, be it physical living beings or material living objects. Everything is alive and flowing with this energy of unconditional love. Pick a sound which you believe resonates from this energy, it could be the sound of angels singing, or the sound of the ocean tides. Now pick a color to represent this energy, I recommend a very soft and calming green or pink, but you can use whatever you would like. Now take this energy, filled with the sound and color that you have assigned to it, and begin to exude this energy out of the front of your body. Feel the energy of unconditional love flowing out of your face, chest, abdomen, everywhere located on the front of your body. As you are feeling the flow of this energy, visualize the color and become aware of the sound of which you assigned to this energy of unconditional love. Once you bring your awareness to all of these things you will start to feel an extreme sense of joy and love. You can now create this same energy flow from the left side of your body, along with the color and sound. Now begin to exude the energy flow behind your body, coming from your back side. Now create the energy flow on the right side of your body, feeling the color and sound resonating now throughout your entire body. Take this entire mass of unconditional love energy and begin to feel it flow out of the top of your head, connecting you to higher realms of consciousness, and now take this same mass of unconditional love energy and begin to feel it flowing through the bottom of your body, connecting you to the core of the earth. Sit or lay for as long as you like and perceive this connection of energy flow. For me, this exercise gives an extreme sense of expansion, and connection of oneness with everything in existence. It is truly beautiful.

I hope that with these meditation exercises that you can experience the beautiful and joyous awareness that is your own consciousness. I also believe that exercises can help in assisting you on your spiritual journey, and give you proof that you are indeed more than just a physical body. Much, much more.
