This summer in Memphis, kids and parents alike can enjoy fun at the Memphis Zoo, with lots of activities and events going on including the popular Zoo Camp, free Tuesday admissions, and exciting exhibits to enjoy every day!
Zoo Camp
The popular summer event for your little ones this year takes place between June 6-August 5, Mondays through Fridays. Let the kids roam with the animals from 9 to 2 in the afternoon, and if you need, they can also enjoy aftercare from 2 to 5.
Prices are reasonable, and it's a great place for the kids to spend the summer instead of being pent up inside some boring daycare. Prices are $165 for Zoo members, and $195 for non-members. Aftercare is $85 for members and $90 for non-members. Those prices are per week. Camp also takes place July 5-8 on Tuesdays-Fridays for a fee of $132 for members and $156 non-members and $68 for aftercare for members, $72 for non.
But act quick for the summer, because registration is over the Monday before camp begins. And keep in mind that if you have to cancel, it needs to be done a week before camp begins or else you'll lose half of the whole cost of the program.
Your child will love the experience of Zoo Camp! They'll have a chance to explore the amazing and fascinating world of animals - of all kinds, from cats to bears to wet and wild things - and be able to take part in some of the best and most fun games in all of Memphis - from crafts and experiments to t-shirt designing and live animal visits and tours. Your child will be provided with a camp t-shirt and one snack per day, so it's up to you to provide the child with a non-refrigerated, non-microwavable lunch to carry.
Your child or children must be at least 4 years old in order to attend the Camp, and of course must be potty-trained. What your child wears also matters, so make sure to speak with a camp coordinator before sending your kid into this fun and wild world!
What makes this Zoo Camp so wonderful, too, is that it also caters towards the slightly older kids, in the 5th to 7th grade range. They will really get a kick out of the Animal Grossology program where they can learn about all those "gross" and "weird" things that happen and exist in the world of animals!
Free Tuesdays
As wonderful as Zoo Camp sounds, there are parents out there who would rather keep their kids to themselves this summer... which is what makes free Tuesdays so great! Residents of Tennessee, with i.d. proof of residency, can enjoy Tuesdays 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. for free at the zoo. A great slot of time to enjoy some good memories with your little one!
Otherwise, regular admission prices are $15 for adults and $10 for kids.
