Here are other things that can be used with the modeling clay. They are eyes, glue, glitter, pencils and toothpicks. This is some other items that can be made cartoon figures, bowls and candy trays. The clay is used often for making school projects. Some science projects are volcanoes, important buildings and maps are molded from modeling clay. Then use paint to decorate the clay when finished.
First the clay has to be worked with to soften it. This can take some time to get the clay soft enough to form or mold. Once it is soft then it can be laid out to start the item.
If making a design of a map or a state the clay will need to be made flat. Make it no thinner then about a quarter of an inch. This can be done by using a glass by rolling it until smooth and large enough. Next use a pencil to complete the lines and names of cities on the map. Now take florescent paint brushing to cover the image. Let the paint dry then place it on foil on a baking sheet. Put it in the oven on 350 degrees for about 15 to 20 minutes or until hard.
To make a character or figure use the soft clay to make the head by rolling a ball. Next sculpture the body with the arms and legs separately. Do these by rolling and pulling on the clay. Shape the body out a little so that it isn't so round. The feet and hand will also have to be molded. Of course the fingers and toes will not be made unless the figure is huge. After getting all the parts completed take toothpicks to attach the parts together. Now use a pencil to draw the mouth and nose on. Place it on foiled baking pan in oven to dry hard. Let cool than paint it finish by gluing the eyes on. Then let dry.
The others items can be molded and decorated by doing them the same way. The completed items are interesting and one of a kind.
